Didn't expect to see a $400 discount on DDR5 memory at Microcenter. Previous Microcenter price was $549.99. Might be a Slick Deal? Or maybe DDR5 prices are finally settling down.

I am not sure what to think about this, I saw people saying the 5600 speed ram microcenter is bundling with new amd is bad, this is same speed, do we really need 6000 speed for ddr5?

For those who concerns about the memory speed. I am currently running 7700x with the free micro center set, flare x5 5600, and my R20 benchmark yields around 7600 multi-cores and 760 single core, my result pretty much stays inline compared to various established reviews. So for average user like me who mainly game and do video encoding occasionally, Im not sure how big of an impact between the free micro center set and an ideal 6000mhz ddr5 set. If any one is making money with their systems then sure, its well worth it to spend $100 more for the best DDR5 set to increase your productivities. Other than that, I am not stressing over a couple fps loss, or saving 15 mins over 5+ hours of video encoding.

Have you tried Ram subtiming/overclocking optimization?

None at all, I actually didnt even run the memory set at its advertised speed, which is 5600. I run it at bios default setting, which is 4800. I have tried 5600 , it does score slightly higher in r20/r23 for me, the difference is very small that it is not even worth mentioning; however for some reasons, my system ends up booting 7-10 sec slower when I run the memory at 5600 so I just run it at 4800, could be a bios issue. Bottom line, the ddr5-4800 still gives me comparable result to 6000mhz from reviewers. Keep in mind I only do short benchmark such as r20/r23, and a couple games. The performance is good enough for me since I only games at 1440p and very small amount of productivity tasks. People will need to evaluate their needs to see if its worth it to spend $100+ more for ddr5 with best timing.
