Just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention. For $149.99 Micro Center will assemble a custom PC based on your exact choices. After playing around with their system builder, I honestly believe this makes all HP/Dell/Lenovo/Asus deals obsolete if you live close to a Micro Center. The case, power supply and cooling are simply far superior to any pre-built out there and you can get it exactly the way you want it. You can also take advantage of the latest deals without waiting for an OEM to make a change. You also save money on Windows license since you are probably just take that from your existing PC.

Configure Your PC: https://www.microcenter.com/site/...94e6b30bf2
CPU: (1) AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Vermeer 3.7GHz 6-Core AM4 Boxed Processor - Wraith Stealth Cooler Included ($149.99 EACH)
Motherboard: (1) ASRock B550M Pro4 AMD AM4 microATX Motherboard ($94.99 EACH)
RAM: (1) Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 CL16 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit CMK32GX4M2E3200 - Black ($89.99 EACH)
Case: (1) Lian Li Lancool 215 Tempered Glass eATX Full Tower Computer Case - Black ($99.99 EACH)
Power Supply: (1) Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 750 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply ($109.99 EACH)
Video Card: (1) PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 XLR8 Revel Epic-X LHR Triple Fan 10GB GDDR6X PCIe 4.0 Graphics Card ($729.99 EACH)
M.2 / NVMe SSD: (1) Samsung 980 SSD 1TB M.2 NVMe Interface PCIe 3.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND 3 bit MLC Technology (MZ-V8V1T0B/AM) ($99.99 EACH)
Total: $1,374.93
Generated by Micro Center https://www.microcenter.com

Much higher component quality, build quality, no cooling issue, no proprietary components.

Similar price available for a 12400 Intel. Save $200 if you go from 3080 to 6800XT. That is the beauty of a custom build!

In all honesty, if you are the type to know exactly what quality components look like, and why, you can easily assemble the computer for yourself. There are some instances when paying for assembly makes sense, but I also see much better value getting prebuilts from Costco with their much better extended warranty.

You can copy a build list from Toms Hardware or any of the sites. It is not that different than choosing a pre-built.

Costco deals are horrible compared to this. For whatever reason any time you ask for a 3080 the prices get jacked up so much it is stupid, when the video card is THE biggest impact for a gaming desktop like this. You buy this kind of systems to play 4K and 3080 is a gigantic difference over 3070/3060TI.

Even for 3070/3060TI/6750XT, I can get close to $1100-$1200 with Micro Center deal, all name brand, premium quality case, power supply and mother board. Costco can't touch that.

So… nothing was worth noting as a specific deal on the components, you paid to have it built (which I posted in another thread) and said "this is a slick deal!"???

The point is this is better than any of the previous front page deals:

https://slickdeals.net/f/16055908-asus-rog-gaming-desktop-i7-11700kf-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-2tb-hdd-rtx-3080-1300-free-shipping

or

Much higher component quality, build quality, no cooling issue, no proprietary components. Pretty much the same price.

Just want to educate whomever shopping for a desktop later. You don't need a special discount if you are flat out better than existing front page deals.

I can also change my own oil, but sometimes it's nice to just get it done while I do other things.

This is exactly why people buy prebuilt oem. Software, support, included....

Extra cost at microcenter

Pre-built have garbage components and cannot be upgraded.

For an apples to apples price comparison you'll want to include a windows license

Am confused. Your build comes to $1595 with assembly and no Win license. It also has a Ryzen 5 vs the posted deals with Ryzen 7/Intel i7. The posted deals are both $1300.

What are you trying to prove here?

That's the way they can sell you open box/returned components for the price of new.

Assembling a computer yourself is easy, knowing what is good is the real issue

Oops, I didn't realize $150 is not included in the list price, so it is more $1525 vs $1300.

I still take the $1525 build since it allows me to get exactly what I want and vastly superior component quality. I am also using 32GB memory which is worth at least another $50, so it is more like $1525 vs $1350 front page deal.

Windows license is worthless for most, you just use the one already on your existing system?

Too many caveats to obtain such a mediocre/normal price. Nothing in the parts list is a deal either besides the CPU and mobo, which was probably cheaper due to their cpu+mobo bundle- and they always have that. There have been better prebuilt deals on CyberpowerPC with their configurator. "Top tier cooling" in your title I guess means the free wraith stealth cooler that's included with the processor lol smh
