There are some negatives to this item, but if you can overcome them it's potentially a great price. See discussion in the comments on this +47 Front Page deal from earlier this year

Agreed. The convenience factor beats image quality ever single time. If you're looking for the best image quality, you might as well go full DSLR.

Good deal, but for anyone unaware, you should probably count on Canon abandoning this mount (if they haven't already) now that RF-S bodies have launched. I loved my EOS M50, especially paired with the 22mm F2, but I saw the writing on the wall and sold all my EF-M stuff while it still had a good resale value and put it towards my R6. If you are trying to get into an interchangable lens system for cheap, it would make more sense to buy a EF/EF-S body kit for a similar price, because at least you'd be able to pick up quickly depreciating EF/EF-S lenses from a huge catalog and be able to adapt those to an RF or RF-S body in the future.

Yep, I agree that this mount looks to be dead. That being said, I decided to keep my m50, because I have the lenses (especially that 22mm F2) that I want and really like the camera.

Dead-end mounts, lens limitations--all that stuff aside, I just can't justify the value proposition of this over investing $350 to boost my phone upgrade when I inevitably upgrade my cell phone in the next year or so. That $350 will help get me to the latest top-tier Galaxy or iPhone model, which may not match this in absolute image quality due to sensor size differences, but will be pretty darn close and much more dynamic/flexible/practical.

I just can't see myself buying, packing, and hiking with a bunch of photo gear everywhere just to get marginally better shots--at least as a non-pro just taking snaps for vacation videos, online dating, sending to family, etc. I guess I'm one of the "filthy casuals" making entry level cameras obsolete.

Toss a Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens on and the M200 becomes a great all-around shooter. While a phone is certainly easier, I still find myself grabbing my M200 often when I want to take good photos of my son, dog, family gatherings, etc. rather than using my Pixel 7 Pro.

same, i havent touch my sony a7mk2 since i got iphone 12 and lack of travel due to covid. i did dust up my sony rx100mk4 for my daughter school outdoor event and when zoomed it took better pics. framing was better using evf too but its really hard to justify lugging a separate camera

Used to lug around a body and 3-4 lenses as well. Worked my way down to a rx100m6 for travel but this last trip only took my phone and honestly didn't miss much. There were some situations where the zoom would have helped but still got a lot of good enough for me shots
