That said, Google really needs to get their shit together on the app side. The camera implementation in Google Home is atrocious and a huge step back from the nest app (which wasn't great but better than google Home).
But running romex from an outlet or another light box would be much cleaner and easier imo than figuring out a run to an outdoor outlet. I want this up on the side of my house and there is no outlet anywhere near sadly, but i could run some romex or PoE through the attic to it.
