I had this also those refillable ink ones . I would say this is a better option since the refillable ones have head clogging issue and at the end it will cost more and also will be out of service when you need it most. This printer is ideal for one print in a while when you need to print something in color or black fast at home. If you have so many pages to print just do it at fedex or buy a laser one . I get cartridge s for about 20$ each.
I was ready to buy until I saw how much the replacement ink is.
All ink printers are similar regarding cartridge cost. If you want to print so many pages you need a laser one. Strongly suggest against those refillable ones since the heads get clogged and they are indeed more expensive to maintain except if you print a lot regularly and in that case why you really need it anyway since laser is a better choice in that case

It does not. The product description states that it only accepts Canon cartridges.
Wonder if Brother has an inkjet printer that accepts generic ink
