The efficiency alone would save you more money. many of the newer machines will reduce your electricity and water consumption by at least half. Water for sure with the HE models.
False. Electric heating element = electric heating element. Motor for agitator or drum = motor for agitator or drum. AC motor efficiency hasn't drastically improved.

Water usage, maybe, but who wants a washer that doesn't fill to the top? People spend 3x the price on SpeedQueen simply for that feature.

Even that is understated. Typically the "efficient' models play a shell game with tub size and "recommended level to load" in the manual. Front loaders work like this, load to max 1/2 the window...ok we'll then that's 2x water and energy usage. Per load numbers are pointless unless there's a definition of per load which there may be i never look.

Then there's the science vs real world observation, i had HE front loaders for years, moved in to a new place i have older plain jane timer units. Uses more water sure....cloths are cleaner without a doubt. Gas drying---check. Now when i replace them getting basic set? you betcha.

Now....i do suspect since fabrics are so crappy these days those older units are rougher on them with the agitators and that's probably correct due to the crappy fabrics now. but i have really dirty work cloths and they are significantly cleaner with a regular washer.

Keep it running as long as possible.

Bought a new washer from Costco a year ago and very disappointed. Cycles take forever and even with "deep fill" there's barely enough water for a thorough wash. Darks always have white streaks on them.

If I had to do it over, I would likely go with a Speed Queen.
Always use the second rinse option. With these newer washers they try to use almost no water to get the best efficiency ratings. With some of those washers the second rinse option isn't even enough because it's not using enough water in the wash cycle

Some Kenmores are LG. You'll have to look up the model to see who made it since Kenmore just slaps a name on appliances from different manufacturers. Then you can just stay away from that company if you don't like their stuff.
The Kenmore I have looks nothing like an LG. I'll dump this stupid Kenmore and get an LG instead.
