Have a 12 year old Samsung washer dryer. Washer seemingly still is fine but dryer started making clanking noises but dries well, should I pre emptively replace them?
Pretty amazing they made it that long, especially the washer. You can probably repair the dryer easily assuming it needs something simple like new rollers (dryers really are pretty simple and all the same in terms of components).

DON"T waste your money on these stupid Kenmore appliances!!!! Our Kenmore washer will lock up and use either too little or too much water with extremely stupid "smart" features. This is as dump as an stupidly engineered appliance can go!!! We are going with an LG instead!!!!

There's plenty of electric ones on sale. Gas is pricier

so tempted but my 40 year old maytag set is still rocking
Keep it running as long as possible.

Bought a new washer from Costco a year ago and very disappointed. Cycles take forever and even with "deep fill" there's barely enough water for a thorough wash. Darks always have white streaks on them.

If I had to do it over, I would likely go with a Speed Queen.

Some Kenmores are LG. You'll have to look up the model to see who made it since Kenmore just slaps a name on appliances from different manufacturers. Then you can just stay away from that company if you don't like their stuff.

Agitator version washer, which is $749.99 by itself on Amazon. Looks like great deal.

The efficiency alone would save you more money. many of the newer machines will reduce your electricity and water consumption by at least half. Water for sure with the HE models.
HE models are so crap they dont even wet the clothes. Every laundry load I ahve to add extra water to make sure my clothes come out clean in Maytag HE washer I bought from lowes. Never again. I would stick with a manual washer which I can contriol through knobs. So much better than the fancy lcd display that doesn't even clean the clothes

You must have a terrible machine that is defective because I use an HE model and it works perfectly fine. It actually cleans clothes a lot better. Maybe you're stuffing TOO MUCH clothes. HE is proven to be cleaner because more water simply dilutes the detergent

Got it. your saying the HE energy efficiency models lie and their capacity is actually 1/2 and double stated water usage.

Thanks for clarifying that.

Front load or top load?
Top load usually have problem wetting clothes if the load is too big and there is no deep full option. Generally it's not an issue in the wash cycle but rinsing it's they problem. In order to use less water they rinse clothes poorly. Front load does not have a wetting problem because there clothes tumble inside and quickly are mixed with detergent and water. Front load has issues with mold it smell because the design stores water.

I have a speed queen set. The washer is top notch. The dryer doesn't do low temp. Just raging inferno or surface of the sun heat levels.

There is a no heat option which works.

I would 100% spring for the washer again. I can take or leave the dryer.
