the bass is clear and strong enough though. careful that some speakers can do go lower than this subwoofer so don't pair it with good speakers than can go lower anyway. check the minimum frequency on your tower speakers first and check if this sub can go significantly lower.

I would recommend looking up some guides for placing two subwoofers in a room. It's rarely a simple task.

Ideally you'd buy a calibration mic from parts express or minidsp and use a free program like room EQ wizard to tune the subs. If your receiver/processor doesn't have a good room equalization software, pick up a minidsp 2x4 hd and tune the subs. It all depends how far you want to go. Usually just plopping subs down wherever doesn't give good results.
