Yous should read up on what those certifications mean.

https://www.onlogic.com/company/i...fications/

ETL AND UL ARE EQUIVALENT. CE also requires the same standards as UL and ETL, though, CE allows self certification.

ETL is done by a ver reputable company called Intertek, UL is obviously it's own company. both are NRTL (nationally recognized test labs). They are both held to the same standard and test and implement the same IEC safety standards and tests. Saying one is worse that the other is silly.

For CE you want to look at the declaration of conformity for the product and see what standards it is declared to be compliant with/tested to.

In the USA most companies that get CE marks are working with UL or Intertek to get the same safety standards tests as if they had. UL or ETL mark, but are rather pursuing an international rather than USA centric product release.

The REAL thing you should be looking for is not the STAMP, but what safety standards the device was tested to. I e. IEC 62368-1 which replaced IEC 60950 and IEC 60065. 60950 was originally a UL standard that harmonized with the European standard to become an IEC standard.

It is very easy to get a UL listing for something that isn't even safety related and you can put the stamp on your device.

Sadly the stamps themselves don't tell you much. Assuring that the devices are tested to sensible IEC standards is what matters.

Please don't use your personal anecdotes as an industry guideline.

Not UL listed. If it's CE then it's bargain basement.

I say that, because I've been seeking out more devices with UL ratings lately, due to the quantity of products that I have purchased with CE and ETL logos that have either failed silently or catastrophically. None of the UL listed items have even blown up or melted on me.

Seriously? The product is otherwise rated 4.5 stars, and is a reputable brand. Don't dwell this review from 2020.

This only applies to pretty old devices that don't support USB C power deliver. Mostly very old USB micro or the earliest USB C devices. QC was a pseudo standard extension for 5v only USB charging.

maybe you were talking about a different charge feature like PPS?
does it support PPS?

Unfortunately it's unclear from the marketing data which version of PD it supports and whether it supports PPS. I couldn't find the model on their website.

if it is unclear then that means it does not support PPS. they would make sure that you know about it lol

I believe CE is self claimed whereas UL needs to be tested and certified. So ye, UL is better

Anker is sometimes TUV listed (another NRTL, like UL and ETL), not sure if it is the case for this product.

I got this as part of a package with the Anker 60W portable battery in last year's BF for like $50. Sure it'd be nice to have more than 1 port, but I use it as a travel MacBook charger and it's been great. It's way more portable than the Apple 100W brick that I would carry otherwise.

Not that worried about it blowing up since I at least recognize the Anker brand...as opposed to every other brand on Amazon.

Why is this charger cheaper than the following?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F28BH7C

Same wattage... is it cheaper because is larger?

yeah pretty much, smaller compact one is more convenient to have, so slightly more expensive as a result.

I'd be tempted by that more compact model if the prongs were collapsible, even tho it is more expensive, but they are fixed.

And of course, if the international adapters are important to you, it does not have them.

I believe PPS is only useful on some Samsung phones - assuming you don't mind adding some stress to your battery with the accelerated charging.

Bought 2, I can confirm that it is TUV listed (by the markings)
