Got the M.2 980 Pro 500GB for the same price last week from GameStop. If you don't have an M.2 slot, this seems decent, but it's only an EVO. Am I missing something, or does this not seem to be that good of a deal?

That I can not deny. I'm just not a fan of the price point when we had a 980 Pro 500gb for the same price.

If you are relying on a good/small size SATA SSD for boot drive, then maybe yes. Otherwise DRAM-less SATA SSD has been below $50/TB lately. Even a comparable MX500 2TB was $107 during prime day, this is definitely not it.

They fulfill different functions. One is a SATA drive, the other is NVME.

It's outdated technology, but not everyone has a current motherboard with a M.2 slot. The Samsung 870 EVO and Crucial MX500 are probably the two best SATA SSD's we'll ever see. I don't foresee much of a sale ever going on for them because of that fact. So for what this is, it's a good deal.
