DON'T buy from mint - best buy has the same deal and you can activate past 45 days but mint is really strict about the activation expiring after 45. You've been warned.

I see the offer, but it puts a 3 month plan in the cart and it's not showing any free months when I checked out.

Yes. I just switched from Red pockets to mint, following OP's link. After I activated it, it shows 6month plan, instead of the 3month plan in cart when I placed order. AMEX offer email also arrived. Thanks OP!

I have so many questions. If I want to switch to Mint Mobile, do I have to wait until my current plan on my current carrier expires (in about a week)? If not, what happens when I receive a call or text with both plans active? If I activate online, how long does it take to receive the SIM card in the mail?

For Amex Offers, make sure you pay directly with the Amex card and not thru PayPal. Amex's system won't code it right thru PayPal and the offer will not apply unless paying mint directly.

Are the Amex offers card/user specific? I tried searching in "Amex Offers & Benefits" and didn't see anything for Mint.

If you have multiple users on the card, login to the other account and check that. My wife had the AMEX Deal and I didn't!

Just did this via Target with red card 5% discount. Activation and port were a breeze. So so so much easier than AT&T annual prepaid.

Make sure to do a trial first before you buy, in my area Mint service sucks, barely gets 1mbps download. Ymmv

Whichever SIM is in the phone is the service the phone will use. To activate a new SIM you have to either transfer the old number ("port out") to the new SIM or get a new number for the new SIM.

You won't really activate online. The activation will happen when the SIM is put in the phone and powered on.

How do you do a trial before you buy? It looks like you have to buy and then if it doesn't work well you can ask for a full refund within 7 days.
