These MPK minis are indeed very mini- I highly recommend going to a Guitar Center or something to try one out to see if it suits you. It's too small for my tastes- I opted for a larger controller with standard sized keys.
Yes, that's actually what this product was designed for. You're going to need a good connection to upload MIDI files. Do you have a 56k modem?
I can confirm this. Bought another product by this company which comes bundled with most of the same software as this. Does not work with M1 Mac. Raised a support ticket with the company in August. Have not heard back yet to this day.
Alternatively, the hardware works incredibly well. If the software is a concern, stay away (M1 and variants) but if all you care about is the hardware, they make solid devices.
If interested: I use mine with FL studio and it maps just fine.

if you've got an m1/m2 mac and wish to use Akai's software, avoid. Also the grey keeb is a lot glossier than online pics indicate.

Wait. What's the issue here? I presume poor support currently but coming later,
I was hoping to use this with GarageBand. Any reason that won't be good?
It will work with GarageBand just fine. It's MIDI. I think what the other post was meaning is that this comes with Akai MPC Beats. They must have thought MPC Beats doesn't support M1 or M2, but they added support long ago. Most popular music making apps have, by now.

If you mean Akai MPC Beats, download any version post 2.10, and you should be fine:

But sure, MIDI is a standard. this should work with MPC Beats, GarageBand, FL Studio, Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, Reaper, whatever.
