Feel like a broken record since this gets posted ~2x a month.

VIP Outlet buys Walmart returns in bulk that original vendors don't want. They do this at a discount. VIP Outlet is not some elite, highly staffed I.T. firm that stress tests every component. I doubt they do much more than verify the machine turns on and probably reinstall the O/S. They hope that enough units are perfectly fine that the return rate is low enough for them to profit.

Meanwhile, these are Walmart returns. The average Walmart service desk lady is not an I.T. expert that will verify the legitimacy of the return. As such, there are reports of some people swapping out the GPU with something inferior, swapping the Ryzen 5 with a Ryzen 3, etc.

If you do order one, know it's kind of a crap shoot. You might luck out and everything works great for years. Or you might have to deal with VIP Outlet's customer support. This might mean returning it, exchanging it, or requesting a partial refund which may or may not be granted.

I ordered one and haven't had any issues other than the Wifi/Bluetooth adapter was missing. Since the Walmart ad didn't mention this component, I was S.O.L.

If you do get one, know it has a proprietary power supply and is limited by that (unless you want to splice some wires and come up with a custom mounting solution). Dropping in an additional 8GB stick of RAM and a 2.5" SSD is incredibly easy. There's a free PCIe x1 slot that can be used to further expand. But beyond that, it makes no sense to spend any further money on this. Maybe in 2 years, drop in a used Ryzen 7 CPU and used 2x16GB sticks to get some life out of it on the cheap. You could probably also drop in a used RX 5600, but you have to be careful overloading the proprietary PSU.

If it matters, this is VR ready, but on nearly the lowest settings.

As for people complaining that this should be sub-$300 - a Ryzen 5 5600G is $99. An RX 5500 is $129. Then you'd still need a case, PSU, RAM, m.2 NVMe drive, Windows license, etc. This is a slick deal, especially for people who don't want to build their own PC. Just know that there is a chance you will need to return/replace it. So, if you aren't willing to wait a week for a PC to be delivered, only to have to send it back and get a replacement/start over - just to save a few bucks, then this is not for you. But if it's more of an impulse buy, or you're budget constrained, it's a great option.

Don't be surprised when it arrives without the GPU and a stick of ram removed. I purchased from VIP outlet and learned the hard way. It IS NOT returnable to Walmart and Walmart does not support purchases from 3rd party shippers.

I can appreciate that sucked, but didn't you write that the last time this was posted and many other people said they got what they ordered? Even though Wally didn't take it, did VIP make it right for you?

I expect that refurb is going to have low quality control, I also wish it was different, but understand Wally not wanting to deal with it. Did VIP make you fight for it to be corrected? That would be a Deal breaker for me.

If they resolved it I may take a chance down the line if they have any sub $400 with an nVidia card.

The listing currently says "Returnable to Store = YES".
Are you saying that Walmart would not allow you to simply return it as stated? I can understand that they wouldn't be able to provide you individual components separately but you should be able to return to store.

I think this has to drop under $300 to make it a deal.

My guess is it will, give it time. I'd pay this price if it had a 1650 Super or hot damn a 1660 Super! My kids machine needs a refresh.

If you look at the pics, starting on the 4 pic or so, contains a 1650 and an RX5500......
Obviously it's Walmart screwup, and Walmart won't give you a break.

This deal keeps popping up every week. Is it not selling well? AMD CPUs and GPUs has been on a tear lately. $99 R5 5500 and $200 RX 6600, affordable 16GB ddr4 and 500GB-1TB nvme SSDs are a good combo for a gaming rig.

Sure. I put in a 2tb m.2, 16tb hdd, and 16gb ram in mine. Also put a PCI FireWire card in too so I could run an old film scanner.

I bought one last year and it kept black screening and rebooting. Contacted and replaced with no issues. Have been running the good replacement since with no issues. Even bought a second one.

Building your own PC has a ton of advantages and is often cheaper. But if these specs are adequate, you probably cannot build something better for $360. At least without using used components and running Linux.

Spare DDR4 slot. Expansion SATA III cable and power connector come preinstalled. Spare PCIe x1 slot. 9 USB ports. Beyond that, you'd need to swap out the m.2 drive, mini m.2 Wifi/Bluetooth adapter, RX 5500 dGPU - at which point, you're defeating the reason to buy a budget refurb PC over spending more to get something better.

If you're considering this, spend ~$50 more to add a second 8GB DDR4 stick (check to see the speed your 8GB stick is running at) and a SATA III drive and call it a day. If you have a use for the PCIe x1 slot, or spare parts lying around, maybe do something with that.
