Against that : XM is at $400 for the pro; 3GB per month would be $30 per month or $360 for a year. Note that the Mint offer appears to have the phone unlocked whereas XM requires you to have 2 years service to unlock.
For someone already on XM with a "by the gig" plan - adding a line just costs taxes and fees, and may make more sense if they don't plan to shift. For anyone else or if you need extra service - the Mint offer is more attractive.

Select free phone was an iPhone SE last year...could be that again...possibly the 6a...or a crappy Samsung/Motorola...or at best an iPhone Mini.
