Avoid Newegg. They aren't the company you remember.

The last two bare drives I got from Newegg were damaged - the metal case was dented on both (original purchase, and replacement.) Given how poorly they were packaged, I won't be buying drives from Newegg again.

When Newegg first came out, they focused heavily on both customer service and low price to compete hard and build a strong customer base. Techies all loved Newegg very much and most likely rated it 10/10. About 10 years ago, Newegg made a major decision to stop growing its customer base and competing hard on price. Techies now probably rate it 2/10. Newegg only does enough to stay afloat.

OEM. Probably no warranty through Seagate.

Waiting for a deal like this on 16TB. That is the max size that's officially compatible with Synology.

I was able to score 2* 18TB Red Pro drives from Western Digital for about $620 after tax, then received 12% off back in Capital One rewards….

These deals aren't going to be getting any worse. I'll probably pick ups a few more during Black Friday Sales.

I ordered two drives last week and one more yesterday. As far as warranty, you can look it on Seagate. Price makes this worthwhile for me.

The first order came well packaged, drive inside air pad sleeve, inside carboard box and two boxes inside larger carboard box. The drives are pre-clearing now for use in an unRaid server.

I guess I was fortunate enough to never receive damaged drives from Newegg even though I see comments about it every time there's a conversation about HDDs from Newegg.

I've had bad luck with seagate too. I've actually been looking at drives this week because one of my old seagate external drives just died recently.

I have another seagate and a WD that are still fine though. To be fair, the one that died was 10 yrs old, but not used very often. Just pulled it out last week after not using it for a year and got about 2 days out of it before it died. Just clicks a few times on power on, and goes back to sleep now. These Iron Wolf drives are supposed to be much better though.

How do these compare to WD Red Pros for NAS usage?

recently purchased the 12TB model. Dead on arrival. Opened support case shipped back, received a different drive per the serial number, also dead. Returned again...all at my expense. 2 months later still waiting for a working drive.

I have 4 of the Seagate 18TB Exos in my DS1621xs+ and they work perfectly fine. Ordered from Newegg a couple weeks ago. So far so good!
