I have 4 of the Seagate 18TB Exos in my DS1621xs+ and they work perfectly fine. Ordered from Newegg a couple weeks ago. So far so good!
But it doesn't support the IHM feature for 18 TB:

The last two bare drives I got from Newegg were damaged - the metal case was dented on both (original purchase, and replacement.) Given how poorly they were packaged, I won't be buying drives from Newegg again.
I had this happen to me and when I returned it they tried to blame it on me saying it happened while I was installing it. Like sure, I bent that thick metal with my bare hands while sliding it into my case.

Oh yeah, I realized that, but wanted the higher MTBF. The IronWolf Pro series is 1.2 million hours and the MTBF of the Exos series is 2.5 million hours.

When Newegg first came out, they focused heavily on both customer service and low price to compete hard and build a strong customer base. Techies all loved Newegg very much and most likely rated it 10/10. About 10 years ago, Newegg made a major decision to stop growing its customer base and competing hard on price. Techies now probably rate it 2/10. Newegg only does enough to stay afloat.

got my 18TB X18 drives from them , 2 year warranty recerts for 198 no tax
there is a coupon code for 5 off ea drive but would call them if interested , located in florida , no tax outside the state.

very reputable. They have the best packing in the business , more professional than amazon or newegg with free 2 day shipping anywhere in the states. I just ordered 15 drives 18TB X18 for roughly 2900.00

i run over 2PiB on my servers mostly seagate CMR drives , only had one 18TB die after being written too within 24 hours and a crappy SMR drive 8TB developed bad sectors.

this out of over 150 drives

I run 2 25U racks with 3 enterprise 45 bay jbods and 2 24 bay unraid servers and soon to be a true nas server

do not underestimate seagate vs wd CMR they are both good, also seagate recerts are practically brand new and checked by seagate before they get them , they also check them for errors , read the website if interested.

I would only opt for hdds that have a 5 year warranty that are comparable in size for 30 dollars more.
when you send those off for warranty you will get a recert back
