Not a stainless firepit so I expect it will rust out pretty quick. Just a heads up

Buy 4 and it will still be cheaper than the Solo with all the accessories...plus you won't have to chain it up to keep your firepit from growing legs Wink

And yes, this might rust if you allow the paint to wear off. But nice thing about black is you can touch it up a million times and it will look good as new after each coat. You'll never restore the finish to stainless even after one hot fire or once it starts to tarnish. You are correct though, stainless should be superior to this (I assume) cheap steel.

Agreed but the main failure will be on the inside when the paint is burned off nearly immediately. Likely lowest cost steel as they just specify 'steel' and would specify a type if it was any good.

Yes it will be low cost steel for sure. Not sure if you've ever tried it but high temp spay paint is GREAT for firepits, even the inside. There are two brands, Krylon and Rust-Oleum; one is rated to 1300F and burns off quickly! (I think it is meant for grills) but the other is rated for 2200F and lasts FOREVER. Do not recall which is which however both cans clearly state the max temp. Also, make sure you use the flat finish and coat before you have rust issues.

Rust-Oleum 248903 - up to 2000F, I assume that's the one they meant.

In for one. Assuming the high temp spray paint from Rust-Oleum will prevent rusting too? I'm going to use it to spray everything including the mesh cover.

Amazon reviews on this aren't great. Looks annoying to clean.

I got this at Menards for about this price on sale and after 11% rebate. I didn't coat the firepit prior to use so yes, it is a tad rusty near the vent holes. I probably should have if I thought of it. However, for $83 vs a Solo Bonfire 2.0, $224 or the Yukon at $400, I'll stick w/ my Dragonfire. The almost 2 foot hole is in-between the bonfire 2.0 and Yukon so it's a nice size... And not that heavy. As far as cleaning after a fire, I wait until the next day when it is cool, find somewhere I want to dump the ashes and flip it upside down, and shake is a bit.

I think I've had it for a couple if not 3 yrs already. I think it will easily last 5 if not 10. But if it doesn't I'll just get another. At least I won't sound like my brother in law who got the Solo:
Me: Oh, wow, you got a Solo.
Him: Yeahhhh...(in a sorrowful tone like buyer's remorse) but I got it on 4th of July sale ...

My fireplace moves around the backyard too. It goes over whatever tree stump I'm trying to burn out.
