SWA has announced that, starting in 2023, Southwest is raising the qualifying benchmark for the Companion Pass from achieving 125,000 qualifying points to 135,000 qualifying points in the same calendar year.

You can earn it through credit card spend points, but you can also earn it through other ways such as referral points for referring people to get the card and/or spending through the spending portal or spend partners. In years past, I have gotten the companion pass pretty early in the calendar year with one card's large bonus + referral points from a few people who signed up.

If you are targeting the companion pass, get the card now, but remember not to complete the full initial spend of $3,000 until late December 2022 or Jan 2023 -- and after your December billing statement closes (but still before the 3 month window from when you were approved). This is so you get the bonus in 2023. Then do other things in 2023 to get to 135,000 qualifying points, and you will have a companion pass for the rest of 2023 and all of 2024.
Yes! The best plan is the qualify to earn the companion pass in early 2023 and the CP goes the rest of the year and all of 2024!
Yes, but you should make sure both bonuses hit in early 2023 (instead of one bonus hitting in late 2022 and one hitting in early 2023)...Track your spending.

Bah. Not good timing. I don't hit my two year mark until June for the priority card. I think that off-promo they're only offering only 50K points.

Early bird you can buy when you get your ticket, and it basically checks you in right before the 24 hour checkin window opens, and in the order you bought your early bird. So its much more likely you will get a ticket in the Late A, or early B boarding group. Early bird never sells out.

Upgraded boarding's open 24 hours before your flight, and they give you a A1-A15 boarding slot, but only if there is an opening. Since they have changed this to allow you to buy the upgrading boarding from the app, they sell out often if you are not getting near that 24h before flight mark.

The second or third post on this deal was talking about combining getting an individual (personal) SWA card (just like this deal), alongside a SWA business card deal -- using a business.

That was the combining.

You can no longer do Two different 'individual" cards. That stopped years ago.

So, if you qualify for each deal, and if you have a business, you can possibly do the combining with one individual SWA card (like this deal) and one business SWA card. Both bonuses hitting in the same year (early 2023 would be ideal) will get you tons of points and a companion pass too.
What if I've had a premier card since 2014? Can i keep it while combining the points of a new business card and new tier of individual card to get it?

Does the 24 month limit apply across all cards? Like say I had the 69$ card last year, can I sign up for the 99$ card and qualify? Sorry kinda new to this.

If we do the $3000 and get the points to get a companion pass for this year, will it still be active for 2023?

Don't hit the spending requirement this year, hit it at the beginning of 2023!

You can't get another bonus from these individual cards if you got another bonus from any of the individual southwest cards within the last 24 months.

No. It's not fair but you will need to cancel the Premier in order to qualify for the individual card (PLUS or PRIORITY) -- but Business card is complete separate.

The terms say this:

75,000 Bonus Points After You Spend $3,000 On Purchases In The First 3 Months From Account Opening:

The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Cardmembers of the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card and Employee Credit Card products. To qualify for your bonus points, you must make Purchases totaling $3,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. Please allow up to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards® account. ("Purchases" do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) To be eligible for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.

Can I do what my wife did a few years ago and combine the points of two of these (both personal cards) to earn companion pass?

To clarify I'm looking to simultaneously apply for two of these card to earn both sets of intro bonuses (of course early 2023 to maximize CP time). Simply put: can I get approved for both cards (I'm under 5/24 and have never had SW cards before).

Early Bird Checkin is done either at the time you buy the ticket or as an add-on a few days before the flight date -- so when you check in, you get a good boarding position.

Upgraded Boarding is done at the Gate at the Airport on the flight date, subject to availability. It involves you turning in your old boarding pass, paying $40 or whatever the charge is, and getting a new boarding pass which is A15 or so.

Can my spouse apply for the personal card and put my Southwest Rewards number on the card? Or does the Southwest Rewards name have to match the name on the credit card?

Hey I see in my SW Personal Priority, I have a $75 Credit. Is that an annual credit or Anniversary year credit.

I know the extra 7500 points is a Anniversary credit.

Nope, only 1 personal card is allowed at a time. You can only combine 1 personal and 1 business card together.

No, you just get 2x more points per dollar spent into your SW rewards account. But, then again, those are at least the same amount of extra points that you would likely get by purchasing tickets with a travel points based credit card.
