Ecstatic, indeed, AND the baddest kid in their circle time group. Just a word of caution, though, if you don't have any experience with Rival Autoblasters. They definitely aren't the Dart Guns I used to shoot my little Brother in the face with 20 years ago. I have the Prometheus, and I'm still not allowed to attend any family functions after bringing it to Christmas 2 years ago and allowing my nephew to pelt Aunt Janice in the face during dinner. She took 5 rounds straight to the dome before she could even think to react and move outta the way. It's possible you and your youngster already have a full Rival Series arsenal. Just in case you don't, though, just a friendly warning. Happy shooting!

This is a smokin price for arguably the best nerf rival blaster. I have 10 of them and just bought 2 more. Although it looks like they're heavily discounted all over the place right now, I imagine they'll get back up to $90+ soon and seems unlikely they'll come back down. I Don't think Nerf still makes these.

The red one is available for $50

on a scale of 1-10, 10 being worst idea ever, how bad of an idea is it to give this to a rambunctious 3.5y/o boy?

I really tempted to getting these considering all the good reviews from u guys. I have a 7 and a 10 yo and I want to know how much does it hurt when I shoot them?

It hurts. At medium to close range, it stings like a rubberband being snapped on your skin. Def should wear protective eyewear when playing. My son was about 10 when we started using them. I wouldn't recommend for a younger age than that unless you have tough kids. At this price, buy a couple now and save them for a couple years until they're ready

Bought for myself to shoot my wife and 13yo around the house. I'm sure they're going to hate it.

Have this. It's hands down the best Nerf gun we have ever used. Rechargeable battery pack, insane fire rate and just a dynamite design overall. Wear eye protection and pants and a jacket and you will be fine. Treat it like you would paintball and it will not hurt unless close range on bare skin. If you are looking for a unique experience for a kids birthday, several of these with lots of rounds is cheaper than throwing a party at a Main Event or similar. Kids will never forget it either. We run 3 v 3 battles. Upstairs vs downstairs and everyone loves it. If anyone takes off their eye protection we shut it down immediately!!

This is an endgame Nerf... the only thing bad about it is all your other Nerf guns fall by the wayside or seem vastly inferior by comparison. Buy multiple if you have kids that fight otherwise they're going to be fighting over this every time. To be honest it's overkill. I think my family has more fun overall using manual action Nerf... but just for the sake of having it, this is the king-of-the-hill. I got my set when Toys R Us was closing down. I'm tempted to get this hold on as a Christmas gift.

I have one of these, as well as at least one of every other Rival blaster, including two Prometheus I snagged on clearance at Ross years ago. This is definitely one of the coolest they have made yet. Wear glasses, buy the hopper extension from Out of Darts, and buy a lot more balls. It really does fling a laser-like beam of foam at 150fps for about 10 sec unmodified.

If you plan to do any even reasonably competitive play (I host Nerf warzone events during holidays for my whole fam) make sure to get even numbers of this gun, as it will significantly unbalance any team dynamics if one side is under-gunned.

Oh and total YMMV, but my local Ross has Nerf Rival Hades for $25 right now, which is my fav non-battery blaster. I bought a bunch for gifts to arm friends, it doesn't feel right to shoot them unless they are packin.

Great deal. I paid $50 for this last year. Bought two and the kids love them! The balls hurt like hell.

Anyone ever shoot their German Shepherd in the butt when he's misbehaving? Would this gun be considered abuse?
