For those who have vision insurance and haven't used it yet this year, most (or a lot, or a few) policies allow one frame per year, which refreshes at the end of the year. This would be a good way to burn that for a basic emergency pair to keep as a spare.
Also a good time to get vision tested using that same insurance that offers one covered test a year, either free or with a $10 copay you can use FSA for.

I've found that getting lenses put in after he fact is wayyyyy pricier than just buying no-name glasses off of one of those cheap sites like payne optical. And the glasses are just as good as those you buy at your dr or costco.
I would never, ever replace lenses unless I loved the frames.
Warby Parker is a good brick and mortar option for reasonable frame + single vision lenses since most places will charge quite a bit to put lenses in your own frames.
Got a couple of these to put some custom reading glass prescription lenses in.
These models cost as much as off-the-shelf drug store glasses, but the fit and durability of the variety of more designer frames make these a nice deal.
Just look at your old paperwork for the size of the frames that you need because I did this one time and the frames I got were huge and it was non returnable. Just for your information it's very tempting I wanted to do it too but I don't know my size yet so I'm holding off. And if you do get them most eyeglass places will do the lenses for you Sam's and Costco are really good and most of the big places take your insurance also if you have eyeglass insurance.
You can get them online, just send the frames + your Rx and they will make lenses for them. I tried LensDirect when they had the $59 BOGO but processing was a bit slow.
Maybe try Costco??

Costco might be the cheapest option here...
