I had similar Buck Stockman as a kid, but in 420HC, which is a steel Buck does wonderful things with. This knife is in 420J2, which a lot of folks consider almost too soft to be a blade steel. It won't hold and edge very long due to it's softness, but 420J2 is very, very corrosion resistant, cheap and sharpens easily. 420J2 really is down at the bottom of the stainless steel ladder along with 3cr. I believe it will get up to about 55HRC, but 420J2 blades more often test out around 52-53HRC at best.

HERE [bladeforums.com] is a good blade forums thread on 420J2.

All that said, a little knife like this can be a great options for a kid or someone who just wants a simple tool with three blade shape options. My father carried a similar knife when I was a kid.
Not everything made in China is bad. Chinese noodles are probably the best in the world, for example.

Looking over the reviews, it appears this knife is made in China and has been this price (online) at Walmart for a while. However, I only saw one complaint and of the 13 reviews, there was only one less than 5 star. Most that purchased it loved it. It does show the lifetime buck warranty as stated above. I think it would be a great knife to train a young person in proper handling and to present to him/her as a gift. At this price point you may be able to train and gift one to each kid in the neighborhood. With parents permission of course! It would also be great as a work knife, one you didn't mind using in situations that you knew the blade may take a bit of a beating. Anyway as the say on Forged in Fire, "it will cut"!

Great comment. The beauty of three blades is that you get three times the length of useful sharpness even with soft steel Smilie

Funny you are getting thumbs down but what you are saying is exactly the point. Long blade for day to day, smaller blade is seldom used for when you need a really sharp blade.

Now a days I don't even trust the noodles from China. It might be made from gutter water for all I know.

I'm not trying to be a smart Alec but the new premiere has banned the export of gutter water noodles. You can only get them now by traveling to Ghanzhou.

I looked it up and Buck says it's USA made. Of course they may be full of beans.
