No, as in you CAN see it WITH night vision goggles. A lot of LCDs aren't readable under infrared.

This isn't frontpage material, SD is falling off. This is most likely a paid frontage 'deal'.

Do I need this? Tired of taking my phone out of my pocket just to check time.
I love mine. Easily readable in bright sunlight, nice backlight for night. I usually get 20+ days before a recharge. Big fan of notifications from my phone like text, calls, etc.

I'm ashamed to admit, but I've used "find my phone" quite a bit.

This would be the perfect watch if it had NFC for payments.

I looked throught he manual and didn't get an answer, but can I use this for running? I currently wear an old 235 and love it, but the look of this watch is really really nice. I'm certainly not an operator, so the HAHO/HALO settings are a bit surplus to my needs.
Yes, you can use this for running. I only run about once a week and there is a specific activity for running. It tracks your heartrate and your position via GPS (and elevation), along with a timer. It will vibrate every mile you run. There's a rudimentary map to show your path on the watch, but you can connect the watch to a computer and upload to Garmin Express and then you can see your path in detail via google maps.

This is my daily wear watch and I'm very happy with it. With average use I charge it maybe once a month.

Just get a cheap watch then
If you don't jump out of planes, go for an amazfit watch, Bip3 pro (~$70) if you aren't into 24/7 heart monitoring, the GTS4 mini ($100) if you want constant bio monitoring. Both have a 10-30 day battery life depending on use cases.

I really want a watch that runs an android-like system that can be fully unlocked and modified. I know there are semi-custom watch faces and such but I'm tired of being charged microtransactions for what should be open source community-driven features at this point. Tired of over proprietary and expensive features each in their own app store (Garmin widgets, brand-specific functionalities to basic external sensors). I want this solar glass, this ruggedness and waterproof rating, similar GPS and sensor array with the ability to log the values more comprehensively, and be able to change icons, sizes, placements, menus, etc. Why split these functions into specific watch variants "surf" "tactical" "ski" "golf" when it's the same hardware? I want to be able to program weather to show up in a certain spot always without navigating through menus... dropping a pin or referencing yourself to POI is apparently somewhat counter-intuitive according to my friend that owns the Instinct Solar 1 which is the most important feature to me on a GPS watch.
