Is this site reputable? looks like a flea market type of site with everything from sofas to casettes being sold.
It's a military px site/store. If you are not of armed forces you cannot purchase

I am getting 20 percent from local dealer. Is this typical or should I be all over it ?

When did they do this? How can I tell if a Speedmaster has these changes?
the previous caliber was 1861 (or 1863 for the sapphire model which was nicely decorated). the new caliber is the 3861.

there are several minor visual differences and a new bracelet (which some love, i personally hate).

here's a good breakdown of the 2 side-by-side. https://www.fratellowatches.com/h...-old/#gref

TL;DR: the new movement is improved. however, i have the older model and it's really spectacular so if you ever see a good deal on the previous model, don't be afraid to go for it... this is a "cant go wrong" situation.

The easiest way to tell is if there is a dot over the zero of the 90 mark of the tachymetre. If the dot is beside the zero, it is an earlier model. If you have the watch in hand you can pull the crown and see if the second-hand stops. A dot over 90 and stop seconds is an indication of the newer model.

https://imgur.com/a/2rtWKBn This was the email I got after contacting customer support. My friends who also bought watches from them did not have their cards signed as well and Omega was reluctant to help.

Omega sends watches directly from their distribution center to AAFES customers. AAFES is an AD and the person you contacted is just unaware. I'm sure if you got in contact with the right person, you would get a different answer.

I call the city to mow a retention pond in my neighborhood. The pond is on the cities list of areas they are responsible for. It happens regularly that they tell me they aren't responsible for the retention pond. I call back until I get the person that knows better.

Appreciate the response and yes those are definitely watches Id consider. Alternatively and less flashy brand wise I guess would be a Tag Aquaracer or a Tudor BB. Would love a Breitling Navitimers or Panerai but they are either too expensive, or too large for my wrist. You're right to imply that an heirloom piece doesn't need to be.. And perhaps shouldn't be very expensive. Id just want it to be timeless and reliable and am not averse to quartz for that reason.
I'm not a fan of Tag as a brand, but the Aquaracer is a spitting image of the Seamaster. I own a BB58 which is a great daily. You can find "as good as new" examples on the secondary market for $2600. They aren't super flashy, but they are super reliable. The BB58 was a hit for a reason. Breitling seems overpriced to me. I like Panerai, but I don't own one. Never say never, but I don't think I would buy one.

I really like quartz watches. I wasn't a fan initially, but brands like Grand Seiko can do amazing things with a quartz movement. I own a GS 50th anniversary of quartz SBGN009. It is a dressy sport watch, but it is a really nice piece. It is a true GMT accurate to 10 seconds per year. Longines makes some really nice V.H.P. quartz watches in their Conquest line.

You don't practice what you preach, and that makes you a hypocrite, on top of being insufferable.

What? You don't even know me, how in the world can your comment have any merit? Let alone, what is says about you.

but will be out of country until end of December..
FEDEX only holds 2 weeks and AAFES couldnt change that. Neighbors to sit around for hours for FEDEX to come to sign? I don't think so...
What other options?

If I was going to spend money on a luxury watch I would just get a Oris or Longines. I'm always afraid I might accidentally damage the crystal even thought none of my watches have many scratches on them. You are right about Breitling. Their watches are usually too big for a person with a small wrist.
