Screen is sapphire and more durable than the glass on aluminum version. Case is SS and is easily scratched but depending on the color you choose can be buffed out https://9to5mac.com/2015/04/26/ap...scratches/

looks like the same as the stainless steel one Apple sells for $749 minus the band which is $100 at Apple store. you could get the same watch for $589 which is a good deal.

Does s/m mean the bands? Or will it only fit those with s/m hands? Sorry dumb question just had to make sure. I have extra watch bands from old Apple Watches I can use if needed

Series 8 is the current Gen. There's virtually no chance you'll see $100 off unless there's a "gotcha" involved, like trade in or something.

Series 7? GPS only? That could reasonably be $300 this season.

yes. Most hands will fit the s/m bands where as bigger hands require the L band.

Additional short answer -- the stainless case also means a different glass material for the face (bezel). At least it did on previous models. i.e., less likely to scratch or crack.

And for the S/M vs M/L question, yes, the band is it the only difference. You can buy new bands from Apple ($50 for the basic ones), or 3rd-party brands much cheaper.

Would recommend the stainless steel. Used aluminum models often have their glass scratched up. Used stainless steel glass always look near perfect.

I don't think the micro scratch issue on unpainted stainless steel is an issue. They aren't scratches in the same sense.
