This is the older model of the atomic impact. The newer one is even smaller. I'd wait for this price on the newer model, and hopefully with some power stack batteries instead of these 1.3ah demo batteries.

Thanks, is there a model number comparison chart somewhere or does HD sell the new impact model for comparison? I want to see the difference between the older and the newer.

I wonder what are these puny impact drivers with 140lb ft torque and small drive good for? Like at what job you need to break off that small nuts?
Keep in mind that these are impact DRIVERS and not impact WRENCHES. These are basically powered screwdrivers. Driving drywall/deck nails. Obviously, they can do much more than that (sheet metal screws, woodworking, etc). However, of you need to break lug nuts, you aren't seeking a driver, look for a wrench.

The new one is tiny. You'll look at it and wonder how they even fit all of the impact parts inside.

These are a godsend for lag bolts.

Great set for the house but I'd wait for the new set with better batteries. These batteries are small and don't have a fuel gauge.

My wife works in manufacturing and has has the original Atomic impact. They put thousands of tek-screws in sheet metal a week. I got the Atomic impact kit on Amazon months ago for $99. That model did not have the 3 speed selector and she found out quickly that is a useful feature for her.

Most have the DCF887B which is the XP with speed selector. Been out for years. The DCF850B (Home Depot only) is the new Atomic with speed selector and is much shorter than the 887 which is helpful in her line of work. Small spaces often.

140lb ft is still pretty substantial; what are you torquing your lug nuts to? probably way too much from spec

over torquing is just as bad as under torquing

Please add brushless to the title. I know most are these days but it makes a big difference IMO.

Thank you for the head up on newer model! But I'm looking on the Dewalt site for the model number of the newer drill and not able to figure it it out.

Is this it?

The new Atomic impact driver is DCF850. Dewalt's model numbers and namings are so confusing. Your link is an impact wrench which is a different tool.

I got these last year for the same price. I ended up selling the drill / driver and picked up the new DCD800. It's their new XR drill with more power but same size as the DCD708 included in this deal.

Looking for a good general purpose drill for home projects. Is this it?
