I've had maybe one out of a half dozen pieces like this, that breaks in comfortably over time. Most remain uncomfortable due to what pragmatically is visible to the eye - even through just these pics: when you have 'sharp' edges in angles of the furniture; it usually means it doesn't have enough quality padding to not only be comfortable, but to last.

Based on a lot of reviews - sitting on this is like sitting on a rock - ultra hard cushions with no give… was tempted by the price but have to skip

I literally have owned this couch for like 4 years. It's held up great and is pretty comfy to sleep on. I wouldn't expect a soft mattress, but I used to love sleeping out in my living room occasionally on the thing.

We got this about two years ago and it has held up pretty well. It's not the most comfortable couch in the world as it does start out very stiff, but it does wear in some and we've had many, many people sleep on it over the past two years and everyone is very complimentary of it as a bed. We don't use it as our primary living room couch and I probably wouldn't recommend it for that as you'd likely want something softer.

The arms can be a pain in the butt to connect (they slide down and interlock), but the fact that it is reversible is very nice. Once you get them on they are solid.

Assuming this is a great apartment-size couch. Big enough for someone ~6ft to lay across? To use as a bed? Weight limit? Return policy?

Costco in general has a very generous return policy on furniture (including mattresses), but I am not sure about Samsclub. I would confirm with SamsClub if I were you.
I can't comment on the other aspects as I have never owned this sectional.
