I think $199 is the standard price on the Duet. This is not the original Bartesian that normally sells for $400+. It's a smaller version that only holds 2 bottles instead of 4 like the original. I still might get one, but just saying.

These machines are way to expensive for what they offer when you take into account the price of the mix cups with the regular price per unit being $2.50..... These machines I dont care if they are 2 or 4 bottles should be no more than $100 cause they dont do anything but mix and pour, there is no advanced technology to justify the cost.

We have the bigger one, I only paid 199 new for it, personally I think the smaller makes more sense for us as we don't do many whisky drinks , I wish the smaller one was an option when I bought mine , but it does a good job , makes good drinks, looks good on our bar too, it gets a lot of interest when we have company over.

I just don't understand why you'd want this. The difference between a cocktail with fresh citrus vs bottled vs whatever is in those packs will be night and day. Most of those drinks are heavy on citrus too.

I don't see much of a difference in freshness vs what I get at the bar for 15-20 bucks a drink , I also like that you can set the machine on the level of strength you want your drink to be, usually when I go to a bar I feel they just dump so much alcohol in the drink taste nasty , these are more balanced.

1) Most people order a cocktail because they appreciate a strong drink.

2) You're not ordering right or going to the wrong bars if you can't have the bartender customize your drink to your liking. This is the entire point for a bar.

3) Cocktails are some of the easiest things you can make yourself.

This is much more appealing at $99. Has anyone else seen it for that in-store price?

I mean, I don't know what you're ordering at a bar for $15-$20, but I can assure you that it's not worth if it it's anything like what comes out of these. Regardless, making cocktails at home is very easy and for the asking price of these you can easily get a lot more actual ingredients to make what you want. The gin martini capsule contains: water, sugar, natural flavor, citric acid, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. What's in a gin martini? Gin, dry vermouth, lemon peel or an olive. So instead of buying a $15 bottle of vermouth and a lemon, you buy these capsules at $15/8pk and a $200 machine to try and replicate an incredible easy drink. I don't get it.

I have the larger one and it doesn't get too much use. It's a neat idea, but seems to clearly be limited to sell pods (why not?)

It should be able to just be an "alcohol soda fountain" but it doesn't. It needs a pod each time. You can't just "Dispense vodka" which would get a lot more use (as bad as it sounds!) if you were able to just set a glass down, hit a button and let it fill with your alcohol of choice.

The costs also add up, with $200 for this machine, the alcohol costs (although it is nice to choose what type you want to use), and $2.50 per drink mix (sold in a 6 pack of pods for $15).

The hassle of always having to have a pod ready, and on this version making sure you have the right alcohols loaded, are a hassle.

The Keurig version (drink works) includes the alcohol in the pods, which makes it a little easier, but I don't think that one lets you just "Dispense alcohol" either.

It is fun, it's cool, its neat.. but you have to be prepared to drop quite a bit of money on it. 6 Small drinks ($15, just for the mixers) will get you buzzed, possibly drunk! But a $5 bottle of mixer will probably make 5-10 times the drink for 1/3 the price, the difference is it doesn't mix it for you automatically.

Check out the BEV bar from Black and Decker, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Y19C...prefix=bev they created it with bartesian team and it works with the same capsules, i got it for $250 as a push gift for wife and we use it almost daily lol. Yes you have to buy capsules but they come out cheaper if you do their subscription, plus you get to try the holiday drinks
