Just FYI: 7900 XTX claims 1.5-1.7x performance boost over 6950XT for $999
7900 XT is about 85% of 7900XT, thus at least 1.3-1.4x better than 6950XT.

Given 6950 XT about 10% better than 6900 XT, chances 7900 XTX is 60-80% better than 6900 XT for 47% more price

Oh, now come on AMD...you know the $900 7900 XT should be pushing these prices down...be dudes and take the 6900 XT down to $550 where it belongs.

Bad time to buy a GPU, the new generation from AMD and Nvidia were recently announced and will be coming soon. None are $700, but the cheaper cards will be out early next year and still be faster. Prices will continue to plummet on old gen, especially used.

That's a lot of math, can you give us a head to head on 7900 xtx vs 4090, based on the 7900 xtx vs the 6950 xt, where the 6950 xt vs the 3090 ti and the 3090 ti vs the 4090. I hope it makes sense. I'd did in my head, now I'm not sure lol

Prices for used cards on ebay are still over the moon, and new old stock (3090 ti) are still too close to the new 4090s where 4090s are allegedly and potentially burn the house down and nowhere to be found, not even sure they're on backorder, more like not being supplied because of potential fire hazard risks or recalls. Just my 2 cents

You act like on December 13th you're just going to go out and buy a 7900 XT for $899 laugh out loud

But yeah, hopefully prices keep dropping.. I'd be happy with a $550 6900xt.

Based on very VAGUE number provided by amd, let say amd is 100% honest with their number, a lot of youtuber has arrived at the estimated value of 7900xtx is around 85-90% performance of 4090. However, amd has a consistent track record of slightly undercut nvidia while offering similar performance with slightly worse drivers. Maybe I am overthinking, but since amd has openly admitted that 7900xtx being 4080 competitor, I cant confidently rule out the worst possibility of 7900xtx will barely beat 4080. If 7900xtx indeed has 85% of 4090 performance while being $600 cheaper, AMD get a buy from me. I only play at 1440p 144hz, 85% of 4090 will be well-adequate to push 135+ fps consistently. To me, there's no point in using frame generation when we already push 135 fps. I will consider frame generation when I upgrade my monitor to 4k / 200hz.
