Also, when Costco makes changes like this its usually because a few idiots are abusing the system. Doornobs buying big screens for the Super Bowl and returning them after, or POS's returning TVs every year for the newer model.
So many cards better for Costco. Freedom Unlimited is probably the top fave. 1.5% cash back (but easily goes over 3-5%+ depending on redemption use for travel). Best card to use for a catch all card where you don't want to think between which card you want to use. Gas I either rely on quarterly benefits (5% comes up often and 10% currently on Bonvoy card).
That sounds like a lot more thinking than the flat 2% from Citi Double Cash. No quarterly bonuses, no categories …just 1% when you spend and 1% when you pay back; a flat 2% discount on everything.
I wonder if Costco will reconsider doing business with Citi and maybe move over to Amex/Chase.
I bought an Arlo Camera System over a year ago so it now only has a warranty through the citi card. 3 of the 4 cameras stopped working after a heavy rain. They suck!👎
Even that seems low compared to the costco card. 4% on gas, 3% on travel and dining. 2% from costco. Not to mention the 2% cashback from costco exec membership on top of that. If the person is a big costco shopper the citi card still wins hands down in the cash back dept.
That said, the dropping of the extended warranty benefit is unfortunate. That influenced a lot of my big purchases from costco.

Costco isn't making the change, Citi is
My credit union Visa has 2% back at Warehouses and 3% back for gas, along with no FTF. Not having to wait until February to redeem my cash back, and having to go to member services to cash it is worth the 1% less in gas.

Amex has the extended warranty coming back?
