I know others recommend Amex and Chase cards instead saying they're 'better' in many regards. But y'all also know that those cards only offer 1 year extended warranty, not 2.

Also pay attention to the terms - most other cards including Chase only extend warranty by 1 year to the maximum of 3 years. Meaning, if your TV already came with 3 years manufacturer warranty, your Credit card adds nothing.
Amex adds 1 year to a max of 5 years.
Citi adds 2, to a max of 5. And had a special arrangement with Costco where with additional extended warranty (eg. Square trade), you could get as much as 7 years total coverage.

Please do realize that an extended warranty is exponentially more important as the product ages - eg. it's more likely to fail during the 3rd year, compared to during the 2nd.

Considering all that, I think the Costco Visa card offered an excellent, above-average extended warranty coverage of any card out there, better than even the premium ones like Amex Platinum - and I'm sad to see this go.

Having said that, can someone confirm if the Citi Premier ($95 annual fee) card continues to offer this extended warranty? Might be worth taking a look if so.

Less reasons to use it outside of Costco purchases, tbh. I made my major electronic purchases with this card for this reason alone. And it kind of became a habit for my wife and me. We have a Cap One Venture One card. Wonder if they offer warranty

I hear ya, still ok for travel but great for gas. Loss of warranty extension is a bummer

Yeah not to mention Costco products aren't really that great to begin with. Membership isn't even worth it

There's no reason to even use it at Costco anymore if you have another 2% Visa card, the only thing it's worth keeping it around for is the 4% gas. I have on on my mom's account but only use it for gas or if I wanted a warranty on something. Guess I'll be using Chase if I want a warranty nowadays, although I've never read of anyone really liking their warranty process.
Sam's Club visa is 5% on all gas purchases

Man these companies (as good as Costco is) like Amazon are increasing its membership prices but decreasing its benefits and services. It's getting a little ridiculous now.
The extended 2 year warranty came from Citi nit Costco. My non Costco credit card issued by Citi lost that perk too.

Years ago they used to have price match guarantee but when it got popular they took it away which couldn' could be the story with the extended warranty. Amex has removed it from it Blue card also.

FYI Sam's is Mastercard. I have both Sam's MC and Costco Visa but primarily use Sam's MC for gas. Costco visa increased gas from 3% to 4% a few years ago.

It's the credit cards slowly reducing or removing perks. Not Costco. They CCs are doing it. Anyone remember when Costco dropped the last CC company for Citi because of lesser perks?

Not much reason to use the card then

One of the reasons for me is primary rental car insurance coverage... Not a lot of others do primary

This is not costco silly.

This is the credit card company. I lost warranty protection on my other Citi cards as well.
He was not referring to the citibank extended warranty, silly! He made a general remark on how costco has been going greedy these days and I completely agree! May be you need annotation.

I never used the extended warranty on the citi coverage part, but sad to see the benefits like this and domestic primary car insurance go away. What's up? competition is not existing anymore?

Here you go:

To enroll in the Preferred Rewards program you must have an active, eligible personal checking account with Bank of America® and maintain the balance required for one of the balance tiers in your combined qualifying Bank of America deposit accounts (such as checking, savings, certificate of deposit) and/or your Merrill investment accounts (such as Cash Management Accounts, 529 Plans). You can satisfy the combined balance requirement for enrollment with either:

1) a three-month combined average daily balance in your qualifying deposit and investment accounts or
2) a current combined balance, provided that you enroll at the time you open your first eligible personal checking account and satisfy the balance requirement at the end of at least one day within 30 days of opening that account.

You must have a qualifying balance of at least:

$20,000 for the Gold tier
$50,000 for the Platinum tier
$100,000 for the Platinum Honors tier
$1,000,000 for the Diamond tier
$10,000,000 for the Diamond Honors tier
Yeah - I'm not switching cash to BoA just for a card. Sounded nice until that tidbit was added.

SD brethren, heed my words. Question for you all.

It's not clear anywhere in the Citi web site or PDF document downloadable. I purchased a Apple Mac Mini M2 with my Citi Costco card yesterday (before the 1/21/23 cutoff). My order receipt is dated as ordered 1/18/23. My CC has been charged for a temp charge only. Will this qualify for the extended warranty? Apple won't charge till they ship the item so the charge won't come until after 1/21/23

Citi's site says "no longer be provided for purchases made on or after January 22, 2023". The purchase was made on 1/18/23 but the charge doesn't come through until a week or so later.

Please help!! (and quote me if you're responding!)

Costco has plenty of leverage to insist that Citi keep offering this benefit. They do it to plenty of other vendors.

I would email their customer service department so you have an answer in writing for the future. Even if someone in this forum swears that they know the answer, I wouldn't count on that convincing Citicard that you're right three years from now when you make a claim.

That said, if you have a receipt dated 18 Jan I would imagine that would trump all other dates (personal opinion that carries no weight for enforcement purposes).
