This blender is Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen's winner for mid-priced blenders (correction, it was not "best buy", it outright won the category). I have this blender and highly recommend it.

This is the lowest price Amazon has ever offered for this blender according to Camel^3

This Breville looks interesting but would like to hear from anybody who has used this.

In the market for a new blender, as the 5yr old Ninja is wearing out, getting noisy and all the various components are dulling and generally looking rough. All in all, it's hard to beat the Ninja for all things blending...does a great job on frozen fruit and ice, and emulsifying oils and such.

Further, it seems to make the Fresh and Furious really outstanding, they encourage the purchase of the Vac Q add-on, for another $100, on Amazon. Makes it all seem kinda gimmicky.

Thanks for the comment. Can you elaborate on what makes you highly recommend it? Is it the power, the design, any useful/different functionality that makes it stand apart from other blenders? Also, do you have the Vac Q? ...if so, does it make any real difference?

It's high powered. Yes, it's a bit loud as some reviews on Amazon point out, but it handles pretty much everything I throw at it. Occasionally there's a thing or two I have to stop and push down the stuff in the blender (It's a mostly leafy spinach blend).

The one thing I don't like is that the rubber gasket on the lid can stretch a bit while the lid is in the jar. When this happens, food particles can get caught under the band and it's a pain to clean it out.

I've never even heard of the Vac Q add-on until today. I don't feel that I need it. I get very smooth blends with most everything I make.

Edit more: I also love the auto-clean feature. Fill the jar to Max with water, maybe a drop of soap and let that minute long cycle go and it does a good job of cleaning out the interior.
