700b vs 800b comparison. I'm testing in a large open space with 22ft ceilings because that's where my samsung QN900a is.

Aesthetics
So the 700b bar is like jet black and the 800b has more of a charcoal color. Both look good. They are the same length but the 700b is slightly shorter in terms of height and the ends are just capped whereas the 800b has the side firing speakers at the far reaches of the unit. As for the subs they are night and day design wise. The 800b looks more modern and is obviously larger compared to the 700b

Sound
Alright so I tested both systems on hdmi earc with Q symphony enabled. I put on a movie called underground 6 on Netflix which has atmos. I ran the same car chase scene like 10x on each one. My conclusion is this: Both bars (in my space) sound VERY similar. The subs, despite the size, aren't that far off from each other. I'm not sure the 800b is worth the $479 price tag I paid (which is the lowest it's ever been) so it's still double the $239 of the 700b. Simply put Im not getting double the sound value or even close. It's like a 15% better sound from the 800b on the bar maybe a 20% increase on the sub. Definitely not enough for someone like me to really notice. Kind of disappointed that the performance is this alike because I wanted my 800b to win.

Your results might very depending on your room setup. Since I'm in wide open space the side firing speakers might not even be doing justice in the 800b and could sound a lot better than the 700b if I was in an enclosed space. You'll have to fk around for yourself. The 800b is going back and I'm buying a second 700b for the same price of the single 800b

It's a different caliber bar for sure. The "s" line is not made to be "big sound" it's for smaller spaces that need a smaller hardware footprint hence you won't get the same level as compared to the Q series. Lastly when buying a Q series the 700 line is the lowest I'd go. The 600b model and everything below that are all riddled with problems. For example they have the 60b on sale for $137!!! Sounds great on paper but every review of it is absolute trash in terms of disconnecting or the unit outright dying. The 700b and higher don't have these wide spread issues from what I've read over the last few months and have personally experienced in my own home.

Forgot to mention I also have a 2021 model Samsung A550 sound bar (2.1) and a Samsung J series (2.1)

The J series is a few years old and is that felt material that gets dusty. Doesn't even have wireless sub capability. It's ok for a guest bedroom and honestly still gets pretty loud. The 2021 A550 sounds a lot better and has wireless sub. Also has the better build quality with no felt on the sound bar. I use that in my home office to listen to music. I think it's a decent clear sound and I've been happy with it, but def not the best. I won't even compare the J series to the 800b because it would be a joke, but when comparing the A550 to the 800b it makes the A550 sound rather puny. I think I paid $179 for it at the time. So this 700b will be my 4th Samsung sound bar to compare against budget bars and upper tier bars.

It kind of depends on your use. S60B is fantastic for the price if you have a newer Samsung TV to take advantage of the features and will use it in a smaller room. I have both the Q700B and S60B and I really like the clarity of the S60. It's awesome for $137. Q700 has more power a lot more bass. In some rooms you don't need the thump and S60B is great for a bedroom where you aren't going to rattle walls watching war and action movies. Q700 is also obviously better for a larger room. I like to relax in the bedroom and don't want thumping bass in there so I prefer the S60B with my Frame TV in that room over the Q700.

Yeah, it didn't sound bad.. but movies really are better with bass & needless to say music.

Plus I am a bass head haha
