700b vs 800b comparison. I'm testing in a large open space with 22ft ceilings because that's where my samsung QN900a is.

Aesthetics
So the 700b bar is like jet black and the 800b has more of a charcoal color. Both look good. They are the same length but the 700b is slightly shorter in terms of height and the ends are just capped whereas the 800b has the side firing speakers at the far reaches of the unit. As for the subs they are night and day design wise. The 800b looks more modern and is obviously larger compared to the 700b

Sound
Alright so I tested both systems on hdmi earc with Q symphony enabled. I put on a movie called underground 6 on Netflix which has atmos. I ran the same car chase scene like 10x on each one. My conclusion is this: Both bars (in my space) sound VERY similar. The subs, despite the size, aren't that far off from each other. I'm not sure the 800b is worth the $479 price tag I paid (which is the lowest it's ever been) so it's still double the $239 of the 700b. Simply put Im not getting double the sound value or even close. It's like a 15% better sound from the 800b on the bar maybe a 20% increase on the sub. Definitely not enough for someone like me to really notice. Kind of disappointed that the performance is this alike because I wanted my 800b to win.

Your results might very depending on your room setup. Since I'm in wide open space the side firing speakers might not even be doing justice in the 800b and could sound a lot better than the 700b if I was in an enclosed space. You'll have to fk around for yourself. The 800b is going back and I'm buying a second 700b for the same price of the single 800b

Agreed but additional 2 up firing speakers should be able to simulate it better. I have only experienced Atmos via earbud (which too is simulated) and it was awesome. I just dont know how this would sound in real life.
Are Samsung returns easy and free?

No, you connect your streaming device to the soundbar and from soundbar to the TV.
So if you have e.g. Nvidia Shield Pro with Dolby Atmos BR rips playing via PLEX you get full Surround Atmos effects directly to the soundbar and speakers. This way you can use older TV which does not support Atmos

the rule is to NOT connect your streaming device ( Stick, Roku, Apple, Shield ) source to the older TV than 2021 otherwise the old TV will downmix sound and you will be loosing the point of this soundbar.

From the last Samsung deal 2 weeks ago (inwhich I posted the deal to slick deals) it was the lowest price ever for it. I was hoping it would come down further but it went up in price by like $200. Don't buy it at the current price wait for $479 again or maybe even lower.

Also the sub on the 800b is better than the 700b. When I took it out of the box I was impressed with the quality and size of it. Different design.
