You linked the most expensive, high end players in the Panasonic lineup currently lol. They also have lower tier 4k players as low as $150, different brands such as the LG UBKM9 (same as ubk90 just Walmart exclusive) for $199 or less come BF or the Sony ubp-x700 also for $199 but has been as low as $99 on sale.

The code died last night. All over the blu-Ray.com forums. You can show that the coupon code is applied in cart but when you actually go to check out and look at what you are paying, the discount is not applied.

The code just worked for me. Try a new email address.

I first tried it with my usual email address, and it said only one per customer but it still showed the discount. I processed the order anyway but pending on my credit card is the full charge.

So I went back with a different email address and used the code to make the same order, and it went through just fine according to the email confirmation I got.

The Big Lebowski was something like $6 or $7 the other day on Amazon. This reeks of a horrible deal TBH and I couldn't find 3 movies I'd even care to buy personally.

I wish they would expand the selection. These are mostly the same selection & price from last year's holiday sale.

But why are 4k blu-ray players still hundreds of dollars? It's been years since they've came out and the price of the actual players are ridiculous.

Just look at this (why? Just why?):

It isn't complicated, demand is low, the profit margins are low, so few companies are making players. I haven't seen a new model from Sony or LG in years while Oppo, Samsung and several other manufacturers have dropped out of the market completely. If demand was greater, it could be possible to manufacture and sell 4K Blu-ray players at a lower price. Try to catch a close-out or Black Friday deal or wait for demand to pick up so more players will be manufactured.

I considered 4K players a bargain a few years ago and now own several.

I don't think I've ever visited this site and not had it say "sold out" on whatever 4k disc I'm interested in. Do they stock more than 3 copies of anything or am I really just that unlucky with this website.

FWIW, I bought a Sony UBP-X700 a few years back, refurb, for around $150. It's now new at Walmart on rollback for $159 [walmart.com].

I've only watched about a dozen 4K discs on it, but where it brought me a lot of value is upconverting older discs. With my 2011 blu-ray player on my 2018 Vizio P-series Quantum, which is admittedly not great at upscaling, blu-rays looked "ok" and DVDs were unwatchable. I thought that was just the cost of having 2160 lines of resolution and viewing media made for 1080 or 480.

With the UBP-X700, however, blu-rays look great (nearly 4K quality, to me) and DVDs were solidly upgraded to "not bad". So if I only used it for 4K discs, it would have cost me more than $10 per movie watched so far... but it also made my existing DVD/BR collection far more usable.

Apparently it doesn't support Dolby Atmos so you may be better off with a newer player (the UBP-X700/M [sony.com] for $200 ?) but I've been happy with mine and it's a very solid player at that price point.
