I would get the one with volume control because it is only $5 more. I would pass on the old 4k for $25. I would wait for a deal on last gen cube ($60 recently with a $24 trade in credit possible).

Looking for some advice, I have a fire tv box from 2015 the one with the sd slot and ethernet port. I don't use either of those things would this cheap stick be comparable to that? It's just hooked up to a 32" 1080p tv. It's been running slow and I figure these have to be faster than that?

edit: eh, for $15 I'll find out in a couple days, lol. thanks op

Try the 4k max refurbished for 29.99 imo. Will be very snappy and worth the extra money.

have been seeing these kind of deals forever. but Amazon never thought of adding more storage to the stick devices than freakin 8GB. Always need to clear cache for better performance. oh, yeah that cube expensive and not travel friendly.

That's definitely a concern, and I still see weird behaviors on the 4K Max sometimes, like Kodi freezing. I'll probably try using a mini PC for my next media device.

Shouldn't be slow, maybe you have too much stuff installed. Delete some programs and the cache, google instructions if u need. I don't think Amazon bogs down older systems.

This. Fire stick is better for one reason and one reason only. Sideloading….If you don't do that, Roku or AppleTV. If either of them started to do that, I'd jump ship immediately.

And the Recast. Does Roku have anything like that?

None of the big players sell a Recast like device anymore, not even Amazon. Discontinued this year. You can roll your own, but that's for a different level of TV addict who is also computer savvy.

Don't buy this. Fire tv drains remote batteries too fast. Google tv is good one. Initially I thought it's fire tv stick issue, my friend using TV inbuilt with fire tv, even that also consumes battery fast. It drains battery within one week. I asked fire tv customer support to replace this. They replaced me with new fire tv stick but no luck. Then I moved to Google tv. There I don't see any issues. Also google tv is good with movie suggestions. Enjoying a lot.
Never had that problem. I have 4 fire sticks and never had to replace batteries in under a year at least. I second paying extra for the 4k max even on a 1080p TV.

Does anyone know how to screen mirror Netflix onto firestick?

Pressing home button, right click 3 times. Turn on mirroring. And playing Netflix from my phone shows black screen. Audio only...
