I went on a cruise on Carnival Conquest in August 2022 through Costco Travel as our first family cruise (family of 4 with a 13 and 14 year old). We splurged on the Balcony cabin.

No complaints, in general, especially given how cheap the cruise was. Be aware that the Carnival Conquest seems to be one of their older ships. It's clean, but the pool is small and the water slides are a little short. Food is good, and the fees are all inclusive. We hit a storm the first day out, and the ship did sway some. Make sure you bring sea sickness medication if you're not sure if you get sea sick. The onboard store ran out of the medication that day.

Watch out for the additional fees, we purchased the Internet access and the Bubbles package (the soda package). The big fees are the shore excursions. Make sure you research on YouTube on what is worth going to.

All in all, it's a decent, cheap vacation. I think next time we'll go on a more modern ship that has more of everything (bigger pool, more entertainment, etc).

It's a Carnival ship...COVID falls lower on the list of worries with the zoo circus of clientele they attract. Love me some cruising, but not with the Walmart of the Seas

The only thing this thread is missing is that more people should share anecdotal experiences about their encounters with COVID-19.

Id rather go out and live then sit at home in fear.
i heard running across highway at night is very thrilling, cheaper than any theme park rides. let's go and not live in fear of cars!

Oh a SD thread about cruises that I'm not interested in. Let me comment about my neighbor's brother's coworker's aunt having gotten covid the time she went on one

Honestly, this is a very cheap price for a cruise. Keep in mind you'll still have to pay taxes, Port fees and gratuities, but it's worth every penny.
My rule of thumb is anything less than $100/person/day after everything is paid is a good deal.
Keep in mind that your room, travel, entertainment and all meals are included in that price.
90% of cruises on the major carriers are about that price, except for their newer ships.

Omg why is half this thread about covid 😑 whether you believe in covid or not, or caught it or not, can we get off this topic already?

Yes, cruise ships do spread diseases more easily, famous for norovirus (vomiting, diarrhea) before covid was a thing.

I've been on a short carnival cruise to MX, hubby and I enjoyed it a lot. Was really cheap and I actually liked their entertainment options more than our last 2 Princess cruises.... we also liked the food. Had a younger, less affluent crowd, but that didn't bother us, felt like it had more of a party vibe than Princess.

I wish more cruises left from the West coast Frown FL so far for us, a 3 or 4d cruise isn't worth going all the way there.

What is meant by "travel" if not excursions? And if that is what it means, who is correct? Are excursions covered or not?

If you leave the ship, it's an "excursion," and it's expensive.
You're also expected to tip based on the full price of the trip, which adds up.
