I went on a cruise on Carnival Conquest in August 2022 through Costco Travel as our first family cruise (family of 4 with a 13 and 14 year old). We splurged on the Balcony cabin.

No complaints, in general, especially given how cheap the cruise was. Be aware that the Carnival Conquest seems to be one of their older ships. It's clean, but the pool is small and the water slides are a little short. Food is good, and the fees are all inclusive. We hit a storm the first day out, and the ship did sway some. Make sure you bring sea sickness medication if you're not sure if you get sea sick. The onboard store ran out of the medication that day.

Watch out for the additional fees, we purchased the Internet access and the Bubbles package (the soda package). The big fees are the shore excursions. Make sure you research on YouTube on what is worth going to.

All in all, it's a decent, cheap vacation. I think next time we'll go on a more modern ship that has more of everything (bigger pool, more entertainment, etc).

I'm looking at two people for $600 with taxes and fees, what other hidden fess do i have to consider ?
Gratuities, for one. Carnival is typically $14.50 per person per day, not including bars and restaurants which tend to be ~18% (but obviously at your discretion).

You gotta sneak your booze onto the ship! Search rum runner bags on AMZ. I've probably saved $1000 taking my own Tito's and Crown Royal 😎🤪

This cruise had 800 cases.

How many died or hospitalized out of those 800?? Or did they have the sniffles?

Look at all these upvotes. This'd be a great cruise to take just for people watching, but you're stuck with them too.

Depends what you are looking for. Alcohol will be extra as well as the "classier" dining options but in reality this is a great deal at $600.

Did people freak out this much over cruises before Covid era? At this point, I'd be more worried about food poisoning (especially on the excursions) than contracting Covid virus. At the moment, current strains that cause Covid are showing about the same mortality rate as the flu, for healthy individuals. Relax guys. The inflation is going to kill more people than Covid this year. For that reason, probably best to skip any vacations until the economy recovers.

Carnival is changing their meal system at sit-down main dining hall.

It's not all-you-can-eat anymore. If you order more than 2 things you need to pay.

https://www.cruisehive.com/carniv...ame%20meal

The most startling of these new changes, made beginning on all sailings departing as of Monday, November 7, 2022, is a new $5 (USD) charge added per entrée in the Main Dining Rooms for any entrée past the first two a guest may order at the same meal.

The buffets are still all-you-can-eat, but the quality of food at the main dining hall is higher and you can try new things.
They charge if you chose to get a 3rd entrée, it's $5...if you're ordering 3 entrees there might be a different issue.

Shhhh. Don't tell anyone... "all Covid-19 cases aboard the Majestic Princess have been so far either asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic, according to Fitzgerald, as reported by George Wright for the BBC News."

Just to clarify, this could mean that 799 were asymptomatic and 1 person had a runny nose.

Comes with free Covid and maybe an extra side dish of Norovirus!

Seriously tho.... Carnival is the bottom of the barrel for cruises. It's "cheap" until you get onboard and they try to upsell you on everything. EVERYTHING. Plus 10 million people crammed into a floating shopping mall / Golden Corral buffet. I will never do another Carnival cruise. Yeah I know they own other cruise lines, but they don't dictate how they do business (obviously so, anyway).

True story, we did the Carnival Magic out of Galveston. I bought a bunch of wine and gave everyone a bottle to take on board (you're allowed 1 bottle each) for dinners. They charge a f*cking "uncorking" fee to drink your own wine at dinner. One dinner, the "waiter" went off on a long tangent about the wine he was opening... I was like.. DUDE, I bought it, I know what a Malbec is.

I honestly felt sorry for the people/crew working on the ship. It reeks of slave labor.

FYI - that pic of Guy Fieri and the burger? You pay real money for those. There are themed restaurants onboard and they all want money.

I don't thumb down anything, just my opinion.

It's not the air. It's the water. A little too cold. Causes shrinkage 🤣

My neighbor came back from cruise and missed majority of the trip because they caught covid onboard. They were full vaccinated and boosted.
Because both of those won't keep you from getting it or giving it. Take your vitamins and go on the cruise

I think it depends on your personality and if you've been on a cruise before. My first cruise was on an old carnival ship out of mobile Alabama maybe 6 yrs ago. It was just a 3 or 4 day Cozumel/progresso trip. Had a blast! The cruise director had a great personality and that made a big impact.
