I went on a cruise on Carnival Conquest in August 2022 through Costco Travel as our first family cruise (family of 4 with a 13 and 14 year old). We splurged on the Balcony cabin.

No complaints, in general, especially given how cheap the cruise was. Be aware that the Carnival Conquest seems to be one of their older ships. It's clean, but the pool is small and the water slides are a little short. Food is good, and the fees are all inclusive. We hit a storm the first day out, and the ship did sway some. Make sure you bring sea sickness medication if you're not sure if you get sea sick. The onboard store ran out of the medication that day.

Watch out for the additional fees, we purchased the Internet access and the Bubbles package (the soda package). The big fees are the shore excursions. Make sure you research on YouTube on what is worth going to.

All in all, it's a decent, cheap vacation. I think next time we'll go on a more modern ship that has more of everything (bigger pool, more entertainment, etc).

Wouldnt Jan be too cold for Bahamas cruise?
Nah it's plenty warm in the Caribbean even in the winter. Unless you hit a storm.

Now the water temp is a different story. Beachside excursion is probably ok but snorkeling or other water activities might be cold. I've done a couple of December ones and beachside excursions were fine (temp wise).

You want to buy trip insurance, Carnival calls it "vacation protection". Nothing short of a hurricane hitting the port during departure is going to get that trip cancelled. The insurance is a good idea anyway... I mean if you have a medical emergency while on board and they have to chopper you off, it will bankrupt you. It also covers lost luggage etc. One cruise I went on they lost my luggage, and I didn't get it back until the day before we finished. I had to buy clothes and borrow underwear from my friend.

After Fees, a balcony ends up $740 for 3 days for 2 people, with no internet, or drink package added and throw in gratuity you're over $1200 for 3 days.

This is almost normal pricing; I've been on 3 3 day cruises out of LA and have never paid anywhere near this price after fees and drink packages

Carnival is CRAP! fake 1100 dollar price. A 3 to 4 day is typically 40 to 50 per night. This is NOT a deal at all!

I went on this same cruise with Carnival in my early 20's you couldn't pay me to go back on it again. Buyer beware on this one unless you like people throwing up everywhere from cheap booze and low tolerance it's New Year's Eve type of cruise, aka amateur hour. It was terrible especially the cabins.

Why couldn't you buy underwear?

Price is cheap due to empty rooms near travel date which they do all the time. I went on a Royal Carib cruise on the west coast for 2 nights few months ago and it was great. Different company, but definitely nothing felt cheap about it in regards to the suburb customer service and the plethora of food offered. Fun, short getaway.

Whenever a deal is cheap or travel/cruise. the taxes/fees will cost more to compensate the cheap deals. But if you're living in fear of covid, you can still wear your mask when you're on the ship perhaps only remove it when you eat and when you sleep.

Price goes up when searching for cabin. Price was cheaper on Royal (99$) and went up when assigning cabin.

" That's why you will find the vast majority of posts from SD staff are for Amazon "no deal" items."

I was trying to figure out why this awful website morphed into a random crap that isn't on sale website.

The lost luggage trip was like 20 years ago... they sold some clothes on the ship but no undies...shirts and stuff. And the ports we stopped was all tourist stuff (like Cozumel). I did buy swim trunks that looked like shorts and wore those a lot during the day. You're at the pool or doing portside excursion stuff mostly anyway. I washed the boxers in the sink and saved those for night when we had to dress nicer for dinner & stuff. I didn't want to go commando in a rented tux, if you know what I mean.

On the Carnival Magic they had laundry rooms, I assume they were coin operated but didn't look too closely. On that Holland America trip the ship didn't have a public laundry and the ship charged a fortune to launder your clothes.

The Magic (and all modern ships now I assume) it was much more floating mall and they probably sell anything you would need. I know they had baby diapers and stuff so they probably would have something nowadays. Back in the day it was mostly jewelry and tourist stuff (shirts, hats, etc)
