The 7900 XT will probably not be 2x the 6800 XT but performance/price ratio does not scale linearly especially high end GPUs. The 6900 XT is only like 10-15% faster than a 6800 XT but it costs like 55% more at launch.
My guess is that it would be more like 1.5-1.7X the performance based on what we know the gap between the XTX and the 6950 XT.
Even the rx 700 XT are faster than today's 6900 xt. I'm pretty sure that AMD is making that that the stock of the 6000's are out before selling lower end 7000 series.

That's weird to hear. I'd always thought of them as one of the top ones, like about Gigabyte level. But that's also because I associate them with high quality motherboards. I'll have to defer to the above experience that MSI is better with NVidia boards.
