Why upgrade firmware?
It has been reported that these SSD's with older firmware can only reach about 5500MB/s READ speed in PS5. After upgrade its 6500MB/s

What was your speed after test in console? Most of the drives should have newer firmware, but you never know...

When you put ssd into console for the first time and turn it on, system will detect it, perform quick format and test READ speed (results will be shown). If you did this and don't remember your speed, the only option is to format M.2 ssd again which results in data loss.

Actually finding slightly better pricing via abt.com paired with retailmenot and captitalone

12% Cash Back sitewide for abt.com via Retailmenot https://www.retailmenot.com/cashb...A5CBCJXDOU

Once activated, use the shop now link and search for the 980 Pro.

https://www.abt.com/Samsung-2TB-9...78307.html

Add to cart, verify the retailmenot browser extension is active for the site.

During checkout use coupon code: ENSERVIO (knocks another $1.90 off)

Out the door ends up being $188.09
Capital One (normal 1.5% back): $2.82
RetailMeNot (12% back..but 45 days to get the reward): $22.57

In the end, effectively $163.70

Thoughts?

For those with Samsung perks at work / student discount:

980 Pro 2TB - $161.99 https://www.samsung.com/us/comput...8p2t0b-am/ (Must Login to See discount)

Oddly, I got an option for pickup at a local Best Buy.
Thanks so much - forgot that my MIT alumni account works at Samsung!! Much appreciated and repped!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but, Samsung doesn't actually require edu email or any verification for education offers.
