Loved Persona. Couldn't get into this. I found it way too difficult. Loved the challenge of P4G and P5 on their hardest difficulty... This is on another level, and without the great characters to break up the grind, it began to feel like a homework assignment.

If you loved the combat in Persona and you were really good at building some of the game-breaking parties/personas, you might enjoy this. Otherwise, it's just 95% mementos on insane difficulty with way less character stuff.

It's persona without the Confidants, activities and mini games. This is all about collecting demons and fusing them which was my favorite aspect of Persona

So my first Persona game was Persona 3 and then I played 4 and now playing 5 because it just released on the Switch. Personally, I did not like SMT V. it was more of a headache for me to play and I ended up not finishing it and sold it back to Gamestop. It runs really poorly on the switch, imo. I sold after playing it for 3 or so hours.

Thanks for sharing. This has been my concern and that's the reason I've been patiently waiting for the PC port since SM3 was ported to PC.
I anyway still have P5R and the upcoming P3 and P4(Jan 2023) on Xbox Game Pass to play for a while.

Persona is kinda like the Jr. version of mainline SMT. Far more punishing gameplay, dark / depressing storyline, heavy on deep RPG mechanics and a bit lighter on story and characters. You might find SMTIV palatable; I'd say that's the easiest SMT game for a Persona fan to get into.

Did they ever fix the terrible performance issues in this game? there was only one major patch and i saw nothing about perf in it. I know its actually the hardwares fault but wondering if they did any software optimizations in any patches to make it more bearable. Anyone have a RECENT (1 month ago) experience with this versus the launch version?

Thanks everyone for the comparisons to Persona 5. Having just recently played Persona 5, I loved the game but was really frustrated with how little of the game actually focused on the quite-enjoyable combat. I'm going to pick this up (but maybe not for the Switch, considering the performance issues).
