I don't remember all of the differences, but I do have a 7500 series respirator, and before buying it I had researched the differences between the different models. If I remember correctly, the 7500 series uses silicone to seal against the face, which is designed to be more durable and more comfortable than the 6000 series. Some people report having skin reactions to the plastic used in the face seal of the 6000 series The 7500 series has an additional point of adjustment on the head, to better fit to different head sizes. The 7500 series has a downward-facing exhalation valve instead of a forward-facing one. Lastly, I think the 3M provides replacement parts for the 7500 series, while they treat the 6000 series as a more disposable product. I can't be sure of that though, I haven't had to go looking for replacement parts yet.

All in all, the 6000 series is great, especially for the price. I would have no problem using it for most tasks. However, if you're looking for something that you can use for a long time, and for long periods of time, I'd suggest spending more money.

What would the point of including a "starter" filter be? It's just going to drive up the price of the item, and you're stuck with the particular filter that the pack comes with.

This way - the respirator is cheaper and you get to pick exactly what type of particulates you're filtering out, and how many filters you buy (so you could buy one or in bulk to save money).

Your filter selection depends on what you need protection from. You can buy some basic p100 filters for about $12-15 and get protection from most dust and debris.

Thank you! I'm going to hold out for a 7500. I have another mask that uses a silicone seal and it is really comfy. That's definitely a feature I want.

I have a 7503 that I use for long periods of time and it was a really good investment. It was clearly meant to be used for a long time.

I worked at a Mercedes Benz Production Plant for 12 yrs. Now retired. Worked in spot repair. We all had the 6200 series that we wore for 8 to 10 hrs. It was comfortable and it would last.
