The four core Alder Lake i3 is truly a monster, comparable to plenty of i5 and i7 CPUs in just the prior generation.
This computer is not necessarily anyone's platform for video rendering or competitive gaming, (though it might do either surprisingly well for the price), but could definitely be a great investment as a long-term daily driver PC.
Good luck!

However, there still remains a significant performance and maintenance advantages for desktop systems, which then adds residuals to their long-term investment value. Even for something like this relatively proprietary system, chasing down a replacement power supply might be more feasible than the power daughterboard for some particular laptop (assuming you're lucky enough to have such a circuit off the mainboard, lest the whole system be a wash). Then there's the performance gap: though compact systems like the one in this deal face challenges similar to laptops in putting the user at the whims of the OEM as to the power and thermal limits baked into the package, there's simply much more headroom in the performance capabilities of this 60W i3 CPU vs. a comparable mobile platform CPU which might max out at around 30W.
To be fair, I'd repeat that both CPUs might overkill for a large base of users (heck, I only this past month retired from daily use a Core2 Quad 9505s). I just wouldn't want to dismiss the value desktop systems can present for the right contexts.
Good luck!

This desktop has I3-12100 with Pass Mark bench score of 14296 (higher is better), which makes the notebook more than slightly slower as far as processor.
I don't know how accurate the pricing is on Pass Mark but it lists the price for the laptop processor as $281 and the price for the desktop processor as $122.
That would make the laptop the better deal as it is cheaper than the cost of the CPU alone !!
