Random, but serious question. Is there ever an instance in which you would buy a few of these to recharge all your home electronics to save money, given you get free electricity in many places you go to, like work?

For example, having 2 of these and recharging them at work, but then bringing them home to recharge all your home items. Obviously not practical, but curious how the math works out.

My 2 cents: If 1-kwh costs $0.15 and a laptop has a 100-wh battery, assuming perfect conversion it costs $0.015 or under 2 cents to charge it fully.

It holds 0.29kWh, and one kWh costs about $0.15 depending on where you live. So probably not worth the hassle to save a nickel.

Good for what it is, but FYI it is not LiFePO4, which aside from its advantages in being usable down to 0% capacity and long life overall, it is significantly safer than the typical Li-Ion battery.

Clearly penny wise. But it reminded me of that story of a guy who was fired because he was charging his Segway at work.

Not lifepo4 will not last using it as long as other brands. Needs about 50 dollar price drop from this to make it worth it.

" Not lifepo4" I'm just now looking into power stations. What does that mean please and do you have a suggestion on another moderately priced unit? Thank you for whatever help you can provide. 🙂

we pay 38 cents per KW where I live because state government mandated that electric companies must get 1/3 rd of all of their power from outrageously expensive wind or solar sources.

I just bought the Ecoflow Delta 2 with Lifepo4 and a 220W solar panel package that was listed on SD a few weeks ago. Came to about $1000 if I recall correctly but maybe that included the tax credit for the solar panel . Back then only their Delta 2 models had it but that may have changed— just check product descriptions to be sure.

You should ask them to allow you to buy cost competitive wind and solar instead of the expensive stuff. Average wholesale pricing of wind [lbl.gov] is between 1.6c/kWh and 4.8c/kWh and Solar generation costs [lbl.gov] for utility scale generation are only 3.3c/kWh. Sounds like your local power corporation is goosing their prices to make you angry, or are just really, really bad at negotiating contracts with providers.

It's a different battery technology. Lithium Iron instead of Lithium Ion. Most of the newer blueletti and a few other brands offer the lifepo4 now. They are safer (no major fire risks) and can be recharged 5x more times before falling to 80% battery capacity.

If you are looking for a backup I would make sure you figure out what you need to power prior to buying a bank. On stuff like refrigerators, you have to figure out the peak inrush and make sure it's rated for that, but also have an idea of how many hours you want to run it.

No it's ALL corrupt Democratic politics. We are a one party state and the ex-governor and ex-congressman founded the biggest wind power company- then lobbied (and easily got) the new legislation. So now when electric companies try to find sources that can supply the massive volumes they need —guess where they MUST go to get it. And so the ex-governor's company can charge whatever it wants — and more.

Got it. Good to know. Didn't realize it was that cheap. I believe we're at $0.25kWh here or so?
