Just a heads up, if you're looking to make your own portable ssd, this isn't a good drive to stick in an external enclosure by itself. It relies on using the system ram and has no DRAM of its own.

Come on, will you waste your time to return if it's only $5 different??

I just pulled the trigger. Needed to add a secondary M2 to my laptop... I don't think it'll go much cheaper than this... Probably at $5 at most $10

I got one too. Worst case scenario is I could return it if something better comes along.

Not over 5 dollars for this item. I mean if a superior item comes along like the Kingston Fury 1tb for even less than what it is now.

Is a 1 TB for $80 an equally good deal?

I always read that a boot drive SSD should have DRAM. Does this have DRAM? Thanks

Nope. This is pcie gen 3. PS5 requires Gen 4. Read write speeds are too slow. If you want a Samsung ssd for ps5 check the Samsung 980 PRO

Nope. For Samsung stick to 970 Evo+ or 980 pro. Both have dram.

This is the m.2 980 pro, not the old SATA version. It uses LPDDR4 for it's DRAM.

edit: oops my mistake, thought this was the pro version, sorry! no dram!

Link is to the 980, non Pro. So is the picture at the top of the deal. No DRAM.

Nope. This is the 980, not the 980 Pro. You're thinking of the 970 Pro. The 980 and 980 Pro only come in m.2. This drive was released after the 980 Pro as a budget option. It's PCIe gen 3, instead of 4, and has no DRAM. The 970 Pro is a better drive, with MLC (instead of TLC), double the TBW, and much faster sustained write speeds. This is still a good deal, though.
