Was the $370 a recent deal or from some other time? I'm looking for a PC, not really for gaming, but wouldn't mind the speed, but would like something in that $400 range.
Oos now. That was for a renewed one. Here is the new link.

ryzen apu is technically zen 2 so it's performance is lower than 11th gen

this is be cpu bottleneck before gpu becomes an issue

the 6600xt is practically half of the cost of the rest of the components but gpu WILL drop lower; it's ok for the sake of not building but not a good deal if you CAN build

if it had rtx 3060 then it would be better value to choose dlss or fsr compared to ONLY being fsr

32gb isn't important when compared to 16gb besides productivity but people prefer more overhead cause we apple be anemic with it

the asus g10 on amazon was better still cause it was cheaper and you can use savings to put into upgrades such as psu and AIO for the intel11400 which runs hot but outperforms the 5700g
Makes most sense. That's why I did not put up this deal instead the one with 3060ti.

Considering buying this to replace my mother's 7 year old Intel NUC I put together for her many years ago. She just needs fast and quiet for her productivity software and internet browsing. She prefers the mini PCs like the Intel NUC but this one is only 13.27 inches high so it will fit under her desk perfectly and is fairly small.

I'm just wondering about the noise factor and build quality, I need something that can last a long time like her Intel NUC so I'm not getting a call 2 years from now with her telling me it's dead.

What do you all think about getting this as a general productivity PC?
I'm guessing your mother doesn't need an RX-6600 XT, which is literally almost half the cost of this rig. Theoretically you could buy this and sell the GPU since it has an APU in it (integrated graphics), but this was mainly a strategy back when GPUs were almost impossible to find. Now that the prices have fallen drastically it's probably not worth it anymore.

My last PC was bought in 2011 so I'm out of the loop. What is something like this capable of gaming wise? Is there a site you can plug in some specs and it'll tell you what fps you'll get at various res and details for popular AAA games?

Yeah, she would never use the graphics card for gaming purposes but having a dedicated GPU would help with some of the Windows 11 performance I would think right? The problem is most of the prebuilts that only have integrated graphics usually have low end specs for everything else. I realize you don't need much of a computer to do email/web surfing/productivity software but I'd rather go over kill for specs.

I might end up getting this now and hold onto to see if any better deals show up before Christmas. If so, at least this can easily be returned since Costco is like 1 mile down the road from me.

Even cheaper if we're desperate for a killer 1080/1440p gaming rig but still room to upgrade.

Video Card: MSI MECH 2X OC Radeon RX 6650 XT 8 GB Video Card ($249.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($42.00 @ Amazon)

Sorry, I meant to reply to the person asking for his 16 year old. But you get it. Quick question, did you use a USB clone/burn/transferring device before you remove and install the new SSDs?
I used Macrium. Its solid and easy to transfer your data. Once you plug in the NVME drive through USB or USB-C it will detect the drive and the process took about 10 mins to convert all of the data.

Again the fact is your price point matches the offer, but does not beat the offer. Also you have the DVD version of the Windows 11. So you would need to add an external DVD device. Keep in mind, building a PC doesn't guarantee stability. Every part may have issues with motherboard capability.

Personally, the CoolerMaster case is average. I much prefer the HP case. The CoolMaster case is a case I would not buy for under $50. The NVME drive has below average read/write speeds.

The point we are making is that this gaming PC is a great deal. We can nit pick all day on pre-build vs. custom build.
Just adding that you don't need an external DVD drive, you can install windows from a USB drive with the included product key and just toss the disc, you don't actually have to install from the disc.

And personally, I would drop the $30 for Windows 11 altogether, being that it's stupidly easy to activate Windows using KMS.

Smoking deal! I might take my sons setup back for this!

Average cost for these items:

Case + PSU = $150
Motherboard + CPU combo = $400
Ram = $100
GPU = $300
NVME 512gb = $60

You are already over $1000. So yes great deal!
It's worth noting that the reason the pricing is cheaper is because of the cost savings in the actual components. You're going to be getting generic low-spec RAM, generic PSU, generic motherboard, generic fans.

Notice that there is no CAS latency mentioned for the RAM. No fan count. No DBA rating for the fans. The motherboard only has 1 USB-C port. This system is going to get _hot_ inside because of the case design and lack of fans.

Is this going to be good enough for a lot of folks? Sure, but a $800 spent piecing components together is going to get you a better, more reliable system.

edit: case in point https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/bM...ming-build comes in around the same price, but now we have namebrand components, actual specs, better airflow, and only sacrificed some CPU speed. Can bump up to the same CPU for about $20 more. Might argue 32gb to 16gb is a drop, but I doubt most people are even using 16gb fully.

pcpartpicker.com doesn't have game ratings, but it does have good/better/best/extreme build guides that are updated pretty often.

Here's an $850 build https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/bM...ming-build that gets you actual name brand parts, with actual disclosed specifications, as one example.

I mean, your money is your money, but integrated is usually fine for anything but gaming, and AMD's APUs are usually going to be better than the corresponding Intel. I feel like you're paying an extra ~$300 just for the GPU in this thing.

As for the low-end parts aspect, I usually feel the exact same way about this type of computer. Everything is sacrificed for "ZOMFG, 6600XT!!!" and so you don't realize that you're getting lower-end specs on the rest of the computer. I'd rather get a better pre-built without the GPU where the focus is more on the rest of the components instead.

It will be fine, even overkill. She doesn't need that much RAM, or even that good of a GPU.

It's not technically the best bang for the buck because it's going to have generic cost cutting components inside it, but for general use that's irrelevant. It will be more than enough.

Honestly I think a 6600XT is a waste in this situation given that it's almost half the value of the build. The integrated graphics in the AMD 5xxx series chips is far beyond adequate and even though discrete GPUs can be used for hardware acceleration of things like browsers, the difference in performance would likely be negligible to her. That Walmart PC with the 5600g and RX5500 would probably feel the same to her for half the price ($360 refurb or $450 new). That deal could probably benefit from an additional 8GB ram though.
