I have been building my own PC's for 30 years. Having said that, it's really arrogant to assume everyone is comfortable building their own PC. When your new built PC is glitching, boot looping, and giving you blue screen of death, who are you gonna call? Which components are you gonna return? Where is your easy return and Costco warranty?

Can people please stop coming onto these posts and saying how you can build it yourself cheaper. No one gives a crap, all we want to know is if this is a good deal compared to other prebuilts out there.

Yeah, for folks looking the value of this, my numbers are somewhere around there, with my total coming to $875 (excluding OS, and a slightly better CPU). I'd guestimate that you could knock $100 off that total with BF prices for some of these, but that would still save you the effort of SDing every bit, ordering, shipping for some items, and assembling everything (I know some people like me find that part fun, but most folks just want to get going and use the thing)

As has been mentioned, the Costco return policy is very generous

Newer processor and bigger SSD would benefit my mother more than a higher end GPU.

Take it for what it's worth:: My experience with the HP systems that I have purchased is that HP does not provide long term driver or bios updates after your 1 or 2 year warranty lapses. On the other hand manufacturers of motherboards that I have purchased provide drivers and bios updates for a much longer time.

Going through building a PC for the first time so the kids can experience it. It's fun but it's dozens of hours between finding the best deals, reading blog posts, building the machine, debugging and installing the OS, returning and swapping parts etc, and I'll still spend more than this HP for similar specs. I don't regret doing it. But these prebuilt can be better value, even before factoring in your time. So you better want to build your own. Smilie

Exactly, I had enjoyed my first build many years ago and actually bought everything, except processor, RAM, and graphics card for my second build almost 15 years ago, but never got the time to finish it.

Most of what I last bought are useless and with luck I may be able to salvage the case and PSU for my next build if there's a next build. Somehow, I no longer enjoy the challenges of hunting for good deals, assembling parts, and diagnosing and debugging to make them work well with each other.

My time is worth more on using than building. I think I'm going to buy something more beefy from an established vendor like Costco, Best Buy, etc. for good warranty and easy return.

In that case, sure - Snap on or whatever. Buy this with confidence and know it is just fine.

Would a simlar computer with ​PCIe Gen 4 cost very much more money?
This computer appears to be Gen 3.
PCIe Gen 4 doubles the data rate of PCIe Gen 3.

Okay… as some of you may remember, back in early October, Dell offered a liquid cooled R10 for slightly over $1k. I bought. Dell is still building it. Should I consider this instead? I think the specs on the R10 (despite the proprietary component arguments and limited add on flexibility) are slightly better than this. Appreciate the help anyone can offer.
