I saw that these finally went on sale this morning after they had been price hiked to $1500 for the last couple weeks. Read enough about them to try one for my PC as a daily use monitor. Ordered one this morning from Best Buy for the same price. Best Buy has them listed under Black Friday deals so I'm fairly certain they won't go lower until then. Also...price protection.
They are also this price at LG and $996 from B&H.

48" Way too big for a monitor, you might of been better off getting the lg c2 42".

48 inch without curve is going to be an issue in close proximity...

Can vouch having a monitor this big hurts your neck. Mine sits on the floor, unsure what to do with it now and was replaced by a smaller widescreen with 3840x1800 resolution

Personally disagree with other posters about this hurting your neck, but it may be based on individual use cases. I have dual 43" LG monitors and don't experience any neck trouble. My use is office applications though so I'm not moving my head around all that much.
YMMV if you're using for gaming, which I do none of so that may be causing the issue…

It's all about how far back you put your monitor. Can either have a huge desk or mount it on the wall and pull your desk away until it's comfortable.

How do you even fit that on your desk?

Won't go lower before BF, but by spring they should. LG charging $1500 for this is criminal.

Have the C1 48" and a 28" monitor. Think of the C1 has having a large desk to throw windows around and keep handy. I typically use the half closest to me and the 28" for active work, and the far half for stuff I'm monitoring, waiting on, or simply feeds and media.

What is the difference in the tech between these GQ series and their normal c2 series? And if this is better then why aren't they making a 42" version of it?

43" is smaller than 48", try sitting in front of a 48" monitor for a few hours. Lol. I've had lg c1 48" just for gaming and it was too big and returned it.

THis is cool, but its just so dang tall. The ultra wides seem nicer when you get so big.
