Honestly not worth it. If you have to get monitor features such as PiP and DP, the Gigabyte one for 799 is a much better option. Otherwise get the 48" C1 for the same price. Not worth the extra 500-700 dollar premium.
I have the 48" C1 for $799 but some of these "quality of life" changes are tempting to make the switch (I'm in my return window on the C1). The biggest thing for me is the ABL is far less aggressive on the monitor version from the sparse reviews I've seen - I plan to test them side by side though.

Matte finish could be the most important change for others (I have two windows behind me so the C1 has a lot of reflections during the day).

Also, first world problem, but I have a 65" C9 in the same room so I always have to use the physical power buttons to avoid the remotes turning both on and off.

Probably still not worth $500 for the differences though, you're right.
I have one and it's a game changer. You can change it to functionally being an Ultrawide for normal use-cases and then use all of the monitor when you need more windows. Because it's oled, the rest of the screen is perfectly dark and does not annoy you with LED glow like with normal monitors.

For PC gaming, you can play at whatever resolution you want. It can take up the whole screen, it can take up just the space in front of your eyes. It's up to you. You have the option and the qualities of this screen being an OLED with fast response times and high refresh rate makes it technically superior to most monitors out there.

The main advantage is that I strictly upgraded from the 38" IPS ultrawide I was using because now I have the option of turning it into a 48" tv or monitor. Plus it has much better picture quality.

Anyways, looking at the listing, I cannot find any indication that this thing has black-frame insertion for motion-blur-reduction. This was a big reason I got the C1 over the CX and C2. For PC gaming, it's a big improvement for motion clarity.

You might not care about this in lieu of the other features. Having display port is incredibly useful for PC users. I had to upgrade my 3d card from a 2080 to a 3060 TI in order to have HDMI 2.1 which was necessary to get 120hz 4k on my 48" C1. The 3060 TI is only slightly faster than a 2080. I did it just to get 120hz. So for those with older 3d cards, this is one less headache.

The price seems more spot on vs $1500 MSRP. Unfortunately they didn't send out units to reviewers so it makes it difficult to gauge if this monitor checks the right boxes.

I do hope they follow up with a 42" model 🤞

Me too.
We recently upgraded to the 43" Dell 4k monitor at work - it's great to have all that bezel-less screen space, but that monitor is really pushing it for my comfort with how wide it is. I think I'd have a hard time with 48" in a regular desk configuration.

At home I have the Alienware 38" ultra wide, which I like a lot, but I wouldn't mind more vertical space. I think the perfect monitor for me would be a 38"-43" curved 4k screen, using OLED or comparable technology. Perhaps one day.

Gigabytes is a lower quality OLED monitor and has issues, LG OLEDs don't and it can perform VRR and ALLM better and they're brighter. Plus people paid almost 2x more for the Samsung PC monitors, this one will drop in price like the others are doing if you wait it out.

I've read numerous reviews and watched Youtube videos of people with these large monitors and I don't see how it is desirable. For people wondering, I think there are basically two kinds of use case:

sitting far back from the monitor or trying to sit close

Sitting far back makes zero sense other than saying "I have big monitor." You buy large TVs because you are in a bigger room and want to sit farther away. Doing the inverse is silly. You will need to zoom even more than you might already at 4K and end up with the same, or less net functional screen real estate, just spread out over a larger physical space. It reminds me of sim racers who can't understand that a 32" screen 20" from your face is much better than a 48" screen 30" from your face.

Up close is more intriguing. If you can put up with the uber-low circa 2002 ~91 ppi (think 24" @1080p), can you use the extra real estate? This was the best overview of that use case I found:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqVwlMmL4mw

The screen is just too physically big that in that use case you are moving your head, which is not desirable for either work or gaming. Look how his primary window is always a fraction of the screen.

Other than OLED, I gotta believe it is people convincing themselves "bigger is better."

I could maybe see it for someone with limited space who just wants one monitor for work/gaming/console/streaming and plays a lot of console games, but as a straight dedicated monitor, especially for PC gaming, I don't see the appeal and objectively it makes no sense, but the market is freeeeeeeeeee...
It makes since, if you don't have one of these newer 40+ inch monitors sitting right in front of your face on a desk. Any size over 40 inches should be hanging eye level on a wall, at least a 3-5ft away from your face. If you want to do do more FPS gaming, a smaller faster 140+ monitor is preferred. I still believe that these monitors were created for the console crowd to fit in their rooms and connect to gaming laptops and PCs. HDMI 2.1 makes this possible for OLEDs and other TV panel tech. Samsung can do this for their Neos if they wanted. It could bring HDR to more monitors in games. You just want get 140hz speeds, which is fine for most gamers, the next gen GPUs will finally be able to hit 4K @60hz consistently, with eye candy. I'm waiting on the HDMI 2.1 compatibility to become commonplace on the sub 400 monitors via the USBC connections. USB4 is coming next year.

Having options is beautiful. Keepin an eye on this one for price reductions. Matte absolutely more desirable than reflective glass of the TVs.

Absolutely. Waiting for this to drop to $800.

Maybe this or the QD OLED.

Sure wish this was the 42" panel, 48" is just not feasible for my setup.
