In short, yes. The 5k kit is primarily made out of anodized aluminum and it hold up (we're talking 10+ years easily with regular use).
This is in contrast to the (very well made) 3k kit, which is more 'plasticky' and while good, isn't going to last more than a couple of years with heavy use
I have the model under this without the arms and I've used it on un even rocks, wrapped on rails and in fences, I have even hung it from tree branches. I would recommend it if you like to get those whacky points of view.
The regular 3k kit is plastic and eventually breaks. There is a 3k Pro (more expensive) that is metal.
This one is metal as well.

Part of me thinks these are neat but part of me has avoided buying them because some people say they are meh compared to just proper lightweight tripods placed on the ground.

Anyone who uses them have a particular love for the scenarios you've used it on?

Jessco and others:
Would you trust putting a high-end camera on this for all those whacky POVs?
I know the specs will specify some weight etc, but would like to know real field experience.
Thanks in advance.

Are the legs made of metal or still plastic?

The plastic ones I've got all eventually split.

Looks like this is the lowest price for this set. B&H does not have this on their site to price match. Otherwise, I could have used the Amex offer.

I have only put a rebel t7i with an L 100m canon lens and a flash on the hot shoe. Decent weight on it. Again I had the lower end model so I would trust this one more. But in short I never felt worried about it.

Is this really $200 regularly? My Alta didn't cost $200.

My OG Joby gave out and I never replaced it. Thought I might with this deal if the metal is that much better than plastic versions.

200.... hahahhaha... yeah tight! BS!

I have this and it's too large. Don't waste your 60 bucks or buy from me for 55.

That's the type of equipment it can carry easily but most people use smaller cameras

This has its use cases but I wouldn't consider it a good everyday tripod
